My whole bedroom is lit up from the nuisance light next-door that is in violation of the City of Bloomington code, yet there is no enforcement. There is light trespass as well as glare from the unshielded light which has a totally exposed element. Please enforce with all owners of this property.

Nuisance light prevents peaceful enjoyment of our property due to glare and light trespass of unshielded light on south of this house, not facing the street, shining on our property. City selectively failing to enforce the code: Glare. All lighting fixtures shall be installed so as not to cause glare at or beyond the property line and shall not be aimed toward traffic. Light Trespass. All lighting fixtures shall be installed so that light trespass from any property line, except a property line abutting a public street, shall not exceed two footcandles at a point one meter beyond the property line.

The nuisance light on the south side is so bright it is this visible in bright daylight on a sunny day, over a meter in from the property line. At night it exceeds the criteria for light trespass in the municipal code: ii. Light Trespass. All lighting fixtures shall be installed so that light trespass from any property line, except a property line abutting a public street, shall not exceed two footcandles at a point one meter beyond the property line. Also violated: shall be fully shielded so that the lighting element is not visible to an observer at any property line, except as stated otherwise in this Section 20.04.090 (Outdoor Lighting). ii. Unless otherwise specified, all lighting fixtures shall be full cutoff type as installed.
Light on south side of house facing neighboring property is completely unshielded, with lighting element completely visible causing glare and light trespass on neighboring property. It is left on all night, and illuminates neighboring property even through room darkening curtains. This is in violation of city code: (5) Glare. Unless otherwise specified, all lighting fixtures shall be full cutoff type as installed. iii. A lighting fixture may beam light upward only if all upward light is reflected back down by a canopy, roof, or other such structure. Please ticket and enforce. Also full trash cans are left out all week.
Code violation- unshielded light on south side of the house, toward the east, causing glare beyond the property line, nuisance to neighboring property. It has been left on continuously for days.
Recently installed lighting fixture on the south side of this house is unshielded with the lighting element completely visible and unshielded, causing glare and light trespass on neighboring property. This light has been on for over 48 hours now, and after dark is disruptive. This violates city code.
