Hello, At 7:30am, someone began jack-hammering the sidewalk immediately outside my apartment window at 222 N College Ave. There are several apartments facing that sidewalk at this location, and it is directly across the street from the Hilton Hotel. In other words, since many people may be trying to sleep in this area, it seems a bit unreasonable to start something so loud before 8am. Thanks for your attention to this matter. The sidewalk at third and Madison connecting Madison to the b-line trail and crossing the street is currently unshoveled, and road access for handicap individuals on that corner is blocked by plow created embankments. Please have someone come out to shovel and salt these asap as a friend reliant on a mobility scooter in my apartment complex is unable to access groceries/basic needs via the b line trail due to this issue. In addition to this, I’m sure there are more people experiencing this in more spots around the city. I’m not sure what can be done proactively, but is seems that the city has a deep enough well of contractors to subcontract out shoveling/salt on sidewalks critical for access to Bloomington’s disabled population. The street lamps that are posted coming out of the sidewalks have been knocked out and not working for some time, but the building blocks any kind of light coming from busier streets and the light coming from 3rd Street and Allison jukebox is not enough that you can see walking down the sidewalk. As an employee of middleway house, my supervisor has given me permission to report to you that clients have experience not feeling safe and needing flashlights to navigate the sidewalk at night. The worst area is on the southwest side of the sidewalk between the gates of the new wings building down to Smith Avenue. It is also dark across the street from another building owned by middleway house, the rise at 401 South Washington. It is very dark on the west side of the street and our clients and are coming home with their children taking the bus when the bus station often is closed. Please work with whoever the property management is of that apartment building because I'm sure they need to install proper lighting for their own tenant's safety, especially on the doorways and entry points that make people feel unsafe walking by. I believe the city needs to install more lighting as well. This area has been begging increasingly unsafe, although close to 3rd St Police. Thank you for giving this the attention it deserves.

The entire next block on East Third (three houses) from my corner (3501 E 3rd) is covered with snow. But WORSE THAN THAT is the steep snow on the corner leading into that block, from the city plows that throw it aside, and it collects and collects. Two days ago I got STUCK in the heavy wet snow on the corner of East Third and Morningside (not my block, but the adjacent one going towards the car dealership) … and I could not move! The snow was so heavy and wet that I couldn’t get out of it! I had to ROLL DOWN INTO MONRINGSIDE DRIVE, then get on my knees, and thank God, finally push my way up with my hands from the ground. I am 76. This was embarassing and dangerous. I notified the Mayor. Her secretary April was gracious and said that I should file a ureport. So this is my report and I’m am MORE UPSET with the city plows and the huge mess left on street corners, than I am upset with my three neighboring houses. Yes, they NEED to shovel their sidewalks. But from what I was told from a Bloomingfoods Manager (Jacob) it is the city’s responsibility to clean the curbs! I don’t drive, so I need to be able to walk when it snows. Check MY DRIVEWAY and my sidewalk. I always shovel or have it shoveled. That is my responsibility. Please check into that block and give them the reminder that they need to hire it done or do it themselves. And please do something about your responsibility on these heavy curbs filled with snow plow snow.

I am the homeowner at 3817 S Woods Edge Bend. Can the city repair my sidewalk? My insurance company is saying this is necessary, and I don't know how to get this done.

Don't wait 7 days to respond to sidewalk snow removal complaints and then mark them "closed" when it's 54 degrees out and all the snow is melted. Cool how you can just not do your job if you wait until the snow is melted. Maybe we should stop plowing the streets too?

This is a recurring problem. In the fall every time it rains, all the leaves come down to the lowest part Park ridge East that's in front of my house. The past 2 years they just come and clear out the actual grate and leave a pile of leaves around it. Which means next time it rains in about 5 minutes the grate will be clogged again. Also they pile the leaves up in my yard and kill my grass. These are not my leaves. They're from the street. Last winter we went around this and you guys ended up having to come with a dump truck after you put them all in the street and then the snow plows put them back in the grates and then they had to be pulled away from the drains and then they got plowed back into the grates and we had a ice shield here where it floods every time it rains more half inch. And I ended up coming with a dump truck and six people and carrying off all the leaves. The Men who cleared it this morning said this isn't the way they would do it if they had their choice. I've called the mayor's office and nobody has called me back. I gave you the day to do that. So now I'm reporting it on Ureport.

Out front of the iMechanic shop there is a growing encampment that is taking over the scooter corral and the sidewalk.

Two things: One) There is an encampment at 415 S Walnut (in front of iMechanic) that is growing and basically taking over the sidewalk at this point. Please remove them before this gets out of hand. Two) Can we please just add a dedicated category for reporting homeless and encampments on uReport. It is arguably the largest issue facing the city yet there is not a specific category to address it. Let's be honest and direct about the problem so we can actually address it.
