As an IU student who lived off campus this past year, I often felt unsafe in several parts of Bloomington because it was so dark. I strongly urge for the city of Bloomington to install lights on not only street corners but in the middle of streets. My neighbors house was broken into and that could have been avoided by the simple addition of a street light. My house was on a 10th street but even one street in was completely unlit. It is a serious safety concern for all citizens.

I have nearly hit pedestrians and bicyclists crossing at this location at night because there are no street lights any where near this exceptionally long crosswalk. Since turning onto 7th street from a south heading means you are competing with north bound traffic on a major road, creeping across to look for pedestrians is not an option and straining to look for pedestrians poses a distraction when gauging oncoming traffic. Thank you.

(I have meant to send this for a couple years, and have since moved and no longer use this crosswalk, so things may already have changed). Please add or move the street light on the southwest corner (where the costume store was) of 10th and Bypass to where the south crosswalk begins (at the walk signal). People turning right don't always look for people crossing from the corner nearest the bus stop, and at night, pedestrians are really hard to see in the crosswalk, which runs parallel to the train tracks and heads to the apartment complexes and strip mall on the east side of bypass. On the east side of Walnut Street, the last three streetlights just before the 10th street intersection are out. This was observed on Oct 16th, 2017 at roughly 10:45pm

This light hasn't worked forever and when it did, a candle would have been brighter. Heavy traffic area for people walking their dogs and joggers as well as bikers and this whole street is dark at night with the exception of one street light about a 3rd of the way down, and one at the intersection of Elliston and Bainbridge.

There needs to be 1 or 2 streetlights put it on east 12th street between Grant street and North Walnut. It is especially dark in between Lincoln and Washington street and at night you cannot see the sidewalk at all. Most people living on E12th street are students, many of whom have night classes ending as late as 9 or 10pm. My roommates and I specifically have classes ending at 8:30 and 9 when the streets are too dark to see anything. With the current atmosphere in Bloomington, many residents of 12th street feel unsafe walking home from class, work, or to their neighbors. Installing A street lamp or two would greatly improve the safety and comfort of people living on E 12th street. The attached photo shows just how dark the sidewalk is with out a flash light at night. No one should have to feel afraid of walking down their own street at 8pm and the addition of street lamps on E12th street can help fix this.
