Sidewalk Snow Removal

The whole area in the Adam's Hill Farm Addition has blatant disregard for clearing sidewalks of snow. It is icy and dangerous for the school children within the "no bus service" walking to Summit Elementary, people walking their dogs and exercisers.
Sidewalk Requests

I am not requesting a sidewalk, only that the city finish a sidewalk project it started a long time ago. Three years ago the city installed a new sidewalk on the south west quadrant of Kinser Pike and the 46/45 Bypass. A black fabric erosion barrier was installed and never removed. This eyesore has been in place since the completion of the project. The State of Indiana is unable to mow this area because of the obstruction. It would be nice if the city would remove this so it can once again be mowed. According to the city this area is part of the "scenic gateway corridor" to Bloomington. For the past few years it has been anything but scenic. Thank you for taking a look at this situation. Regards, Jeff Stevens, Owner, Harley-Davidson of Bloomington 812-333-8300

The sidewalk from High to Arden passes through a small wooded area that is not lit. It is intimidating to walk through. There is an electric transfer box nearby between two properties. Hopefully a light can be installed.

There are several sidewalk cuts along Washington Street in front of the AT&T building that are covered with smooth metal pieces. These metal covers provide absolutely no traction when wet and are very dangerous for pedestrians.
Can these please be replaced with the more common covers that have raised ridges to provide some traction?
Traffic Suggestions

We have cars flying down Ruby Ln heading to High Street. Our house is on the corner of Ruby and S. Covenanter and they fly down Ruby Lane and turn having headed into the ditch. My main concern is that cars fly down Ruby Lane and we have several families with small children. On the lower side of Ruby Lane there is no sidewalk and these cars are flying down the road. Their speed would kill a pedestrian or a child playing if they got hit. It would be nice with a sign or a speed bump to slow some of the traffic flying down E. Ruby Lane. We never see police officers patrol our neighborhood...not even when we file a report that we are out of town and would like beefed up security checks. The same culprits drive exceedingly fast down both E. Ruby Lane and E. Southdowns Drive and never get ticketed for speeding. If you want to get extra income for the city...that would be the way to do it. Set up a police officer and catch all the drivers driving too fast down these streets.
Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

There is a curb cut on Hunter Ave, it seems have serviced a vacated alley, right behind 502. S. Hawthorne. The house owners have fence the area, so perhaps they believe they own it, but GIS sees it as an alley. I was walking down west on Hunter after dark on Sunday evening, and the shrubbery shadows the street lights. Even though I have been a neighborhood resident for 2 decades, I forgot that I had to step down when on the sidewalk, and I stumbled a bit, caught myself, but then hit the curb on the other side, and fell on the sidewalk, thus abrading my right elbow and knee. I see no reason for the curb cut, and am requesting that it be filled in. We have numerous people out at night walking dogs, taking the night air, and I can imagine a more serious accident here, especially if one is elderly (at 67, I fell pretty fit.) I do feel stupid that I was not paying attention to a hazard I have been aware of for years, but there it is. Here are the views, I could not get the upload to work (neither did the Choose Location link, but I am on a Mac using Chrome, and if your system is Windows based, therein may be the problem https://www.dropbox.com/s/qp74i2ruo2kvewh/2015-02-08%2010.04.23.jpg?dl=0

I live in the West Point neighborhood. It has been more than 24 hours after the snow stopped accumulating yesterday (Mon., Feb. 16 around 6pm). Many public sidewalks abutting properties here are not shoveled. This includes up and down Woodhill Dr. and S. Larkspur Ln., and the adjacent side streets. This neighborhood has many people that normally walk around, enjoying the neighborhood, but now the sidewalks are hampered due to residents' and/or property owners' violation of municipal code.
Please issue citations in this neighborhood, in hopes that people will take responsibility in making it a safe and non-hazardous neighborhood.
Thank you very much!

At the southwest corner of East Third St. at the 45-46 Bypass, there's a pile of snow that makes it difficult for pedestrians to move from the sidewalk to the crosswalk (heading east) or from the crosswalk to the sidewalk (heading west). I had to dodge briefly into the lane for cars. I know it's hard to keep all of the corners clear for pedestrians, but that's a busy corner, and even in this weather there are still some pedestrians out and about along that stretch of E. Third.
