Potholes, Other Street Repair
3883-3887 East Resents Circle
- Case Date:
- 9/20/2015
Recently, I reported some damage to the E. Regents Circle street, which the City immediately fixed.
The repair work was OUTSTANDING, by the way! The promptness and quality of the repair work was spot-on ... many thanks to the City!
However, after a few months we've noticed that the asphalt used for the repair appears to now be "separating" from the original pavement of the East edge of street (see attached photo).
Our concern is that as winter approaches, there will be opportunities for water/snow/ice to accumulate, freeze, and actually cause *more* damage to the original repair work.
Can we please request to have the City come check out this repair work to see if it needs additional work? Thank you so much in advance!

The curb cut has turned into a sink hole at the southwest corner of 9th and IN. The sidewalk on the opposite corner (north side of 9th between Indiana and Fess) is also a problem.

Here are a few pictures of the curb cut issue on Clarizz by the entrance to Bloomingfoods. You can see that there are no ramps on either side of the turn-in to Bloomingfoods from Clarizz. Therefore, anyone wanting to walk to Bloomingfoods using a wheelchair would not have easy access. What you have to do is use the sidewalk across the street (which does have a curb cut) and then cross Clarizz to enter the Bloomingfoods parking area. The problem with this is that the traffic is very heavy on Clarizz, particularly so close to the intersection with 3rd St and this makes crossing, particularly for someone in a wheelchair, perilous. I'm requesting that the City add curb cuts to the sidewalk on Clarizz by Bloomingfoods to fix this problem. A less ideal fix would be to add a crosswalk to the other side of the street, but I really don't see this as a great solution.

I just contacted Bloomington Transit, but wanted to report to the city Transportation department as well. I driver I saw a few weeks ago littering his cigarette butt at the downtown BT station, was seen eating while driving today. Below is the email I sent to BT. I hope this driver is properly trained and/or reprimanded. This is unacceptable from anyone, but especially someone representing the city.
"Hello,
Do you allow your drivers to eat food while they drive? I assume not; this is a major safety risk that a bus driver should not be doing.
However, the driver of 4W, today, October 14, leaving downtown at 6:10p was eating chips WHILE he was driving. Not just while stopped at lights, but as the bus was in motion, having at least only one hand on the wheel while transporting 10-15 people during rush hour.
I believe this is the same driver I emailed about a few weeks ago who I saw littering his cigarette butts outside on the sidewalk adjacent to Walnut St. What an inconsiderate, selfish, unsafe driver. I hope a wreck doesn't happen because he's endangering people and can't wait to eat until he's at the station."

there's a dangerous situation out on west 3rd street, near the intersection of 3rd & franklin. a very deep hole right beside a public sidewalk & i'm afraid that someone won't see it who is walking along & the person could get very injured. the hole is about 18" wide and about 5 feet deep and difficult to see until it's too late. it is in front of a "for sale" building, but right beside the public sidewalk there.
