Encampment of houseless individuals taking up on public sidewalk behind tree planter every night. The area is blocked during their occupation and when they leave, copious amounts of trash, discarded belongings, syringes etc are left behind to be cleaned up by others. The public defecation that takes place is a public health hazard.
homeless encampments are spreading throughout this area on 501 N Walnut St around peoples houses. Had filed a uReport with the number 192180 and nothing got resolved.
The sidewalk & public sitting bench are taken over by huge tarps covering shopping carts etc of personal belongings.
Commercial tent is setup, possibly distributing electronic devices. The sidewalk is blocked by traffic of customers. City curbs shouldn't be used for private commerce without permit and traffic plan.
There are numerous close calls and way too many accidents at this intersection because cars on Grant aren't aware that cross-traffic on 9th doesn't stop. There was an accident this afternoon and luckily everyone was fine, but I believe it could have been avoided if the city put up a little "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" sign below the stop signs on Grant. Someone has set up what looks like a junk store on the east side of People's Park up against the bike shop wall.
