After parking four cars in the alley, these left and a single car was left in the alley, as well as the private basketballhoop that should not be stored in the public alley. Request No parking sign to be placed here as well as removal of stored basketball hoop and pails with iron fenceholders. Illegal frat uses alley as private storage and parking lot.
With the closure of Tapp Road intersection due to I-69 construction, a lot of traffic has been diverted on to the Tapp and Rockport Road intersection. Due to this there is a severe need for a traffic light at this intersection since now in the morning rush hour there is a long traffic backup on Rockport road towards coming into the city at the Tapp intersection. It would help if there was a four way traffic light added on this street so that it would help with the traffic pattern. -Concerned Citizen

I would like to highlight what I believe to be one remaining safety concern along that B-Line bike path. It has to do with the bridge on Allen that crosses over the open drainage (right by the Traffic Division's garage). When approaching the bridge from either direction, there are significant gaps on either side where there is no barrier between the road and the drainage culvert. I am concerned that a cyclist -- perhaps one pulling over to allow a car to pass -- could misjudge their stopping distance and ride into the culvert. Additionally, there is no easy way for someone who does fall in to climb back out. I believe that the expense to fix this would be low. It appears that an attempt may have been made to create a curb at one point, but the work appears to be incomplete and not sufficient to stop a bicycle. However, something like a length of guardrail seems like it would be more than sufficient. Thank you for taking time to read my concern.
For over 17 years we have lived close to the corner of Dillman and S. Old 37. As I type yet another traffic accident is being cleaned up at this intersection. It is time to have a 4 way stop put in. No more rumble strips, or intersection signs or yellow blinking lights, or cutting back the tree/brush line. (well, that does need to happen:-) This has got to be one of the most dangerous intersections in town. People coming off of 37 drive down old 37 like they are still on the highway. With the amount of houses, buses and children that are living in the area I would have thought that something would have been done by now to fix this problem, which is a serious safety issue to anyone trying to cross the road. The solution of a four way makes since and would not hurt the pocket book of Bloomington. If it is an inconvenience for people to stop then so be it. This has gone on for far too long and all attempts to do something, in the form of rumble strips,intersection signs,yellow blinking lights etc., by the city/county have just been band aids not real solutions. Please take my request seriously. Many of us living on the south side have children who are reaching the age where they will be on the roads as young drivers. As an adult with over 20 years of driving experience, I dread approaching this intersection or even pulling out of my own driveway near this intersection. Its a death trap and a game of chance. Sidewalk on Twin Oaks RDG is blocked by a pin oak tree. The tree needs to be trimmed. Sidewalk near same intersection W Pine Meadows is blocked by a large bush. Children walking to Summit Elementary school are forced to walk in the street.
Fess Avenue between 1st and Maxwell is very dark. No streetlights. I am requesting a light be put in between 821 and 823 S. Fess. It's almost pitch black.
On East 17th Street in front of the Devault Alumni Center (1000 E 17th St) there is a well-used pedestrian crosswalk. The white stripes are faded and at the crest of a hill, which makes them difficult for cars to see. A sign in the center of the roadway to highlight where the crosswalk is would be more eye-catching and will help drivers notice the crosswalk. The crosswalk is also right across from a bus stop, so this causes further confusion for drivers, who may be unsure if people are waiting for the bus or getting ready to cross. If a new island type sign was erected and the bus stop was moved 40-50 feet east of the crosswalk, I believe it would make this area much safer for pedestrians and drivers.
From an international student friend who lives in the apartments off Hagan St: "The area where I live does not have many public lights. When we students come home late in the night, we get off the bus and it is very dark, it is kind of eerie to walk in such a dark area, even if it is just less than half a mile. It really strikes me that there is no public lights in an area like that, where there are hundreds of students. I was wondering if it is possible at all to contact somebody from the city government and request that a lamp be set up there -it is the corner of Hagan St and S. Park Ridge Rd. I guess students come and go every year and nobody really cares or speak up about things like that, which may appear insignificant, but kind of matter. It is so dark, that sometimes when I come back home carrying my laptop with me, I need to be careful so as not to bump into something and fall and break the laptop. It is like you cannot actually see where you are walking. I have wondered how these sort of things are handled here in bloomington. So I am just curious to know if you think there is something that can be done to get some public lights in these streets." - Lina Ochoa
Trash was dumped on Liverpool Lane. There is only one driveway on it, if you follow it past the paved area,you will see a bunch of building materials that are obviously trash. I'm not sure you are who I would contact about this. Please email or call me if you have any questions. Thank you.
