The Jackson Creek trail south of Sherwood Oaks Park extending to Rhorer is like a sheet of ice and very treacherous.
There's a point on the Jackson Creek trail near Rhorer Rd. where a stupid cable supporting a utility pole is anchored in the middle of the path. It's very hard to see in low light conditions and this poses a risk to pedestrians and cyclists. Normally there's a reflective orange and white barrel by the cable to warn people, but someone has thrown it in the creek.
On the Jackson Creek Trail going south from Sherwoods Oaks Park and almost to Rhorer Road, there is a guy wire from the utility pole that is in the path. There have been various things used to keep people from running into the wire. Up until June, there were two orange barrels. I reported in June that one of them was in the creek. Now the remaining barrel is in the creek. It is on the bank not far past the guy wire. If you want to use barrels to protect the wire, they need to be secured, since both barrels have now been tossed into the creek.
It seems the street lamps in the Winslow Sports complex and along the eastern side of the walking path are either not working or off on their timer. Thanks!
The Winslow Woods trail system needs to be plowed for snow removal.
I can understand if doing a good job plowing the path around the Winslow sports complex is not the city’s top priority although it is extremely popular and it could be even more so if people who normally walk neighborhoods could rely on good snow removal here. But it is an essential connector for bike and pedestrian travel and access to the #4 bus. Please at least try to make it safe to get all the way from Rock Creek to Highland. Right now there are many sections that are just ice.
In both the large and small dog parks the obstacles are rotting. There are stacked logs that my dog has loved jumping on/over as part of the obstacle coarse. Last summer those were rotting away and becoming a hazard for any dog to be on. They have further degraded. They are ready to collapse at any point with weight applied, but also the shear amount of wood pieces that could become splintered into a paw is a major health and safety risk to all dogs. I would love to see these replaced and maintenanced on a regular basis to ensure they don’t become a safety hazard. If at all possible some further spacing on the log obstacles would be great as well. They are too close together and cause her to take pause in between jumps to readjust her body before she can jump to the next. Some more space between would allow for a smooth transition from obstacle to obstacle. Thank you so much for all that you do.
