What exactly is the plan for the homeless encampments that persist around City Hall? It’s been a solid month of people living in this area. Increased trash, destroying landscaping, open drug use, and safety concerns. Is this your vision for downtown? Thank you.
The trash located in the alley to the east of 110 E 6th Street is NOT Olympus Properties trash. We do not manage the dumpster and have no residents or business tenants dumping there. . The identifiers on the trash belong to AMRIT INDIA and 118 N Walnut Street. One identifier as Ethan M (Door Dash) is not our resident. The homeless people in the woods burn plastic literally every night. I can smell it in my house and as soon as I open the door it’s really intense and makes me sick, burns my throat ect. It’s starts at 9pm- continuing for hours. The fire dept has already come out but they keep doing it. There’s also a man screaming right now but that’s nothing new and doesn’t effect my ability to breath.

In the little patch of woods on the west side of south rogers across from the community kitchen and The Warehouse there is a growing the pile of mattresses and other debris that makes it seem that that is a homeless squatting site or an abandoned squatting site that is turning into a trash heap. It is the little patch of woods that is between two Nervous Nordisc entry points. I suspect that's private property. So it does not violate the new state law against camping on public property. But i'm sure the amount of trash there violates. Some ordinance is regarding abandoned mattresses..... I've been watching it over the last few weeks. And it is growing.

I have now multiple times seen homeless people making a new encampment here. Tents, hammocks, unsupervised dogs and all. It seriously frustrates me that this is one of the only safe, family friendly parks/trails and it is starting to become an encampment. What also concerns me is there are two schools and a church nearby, all of which have kids who walk or bike to school and use the trail to safely get there. People living here also means destroying what a beautiful area this is. The setup I saw near the creek today will undoubtedly bring trash and unwanted debris to the water and the surrounding areas. We should not continue to tolerate this in our parks and on our trails. It’s not helpful or caring to people who are clearly struggling to just let them continue doing illegal things like camping out in public spaces that are not campgrounds. I will continue to lodge complaints because the last thing I want to do is stand idly by and watch this great park become the next encampment.
I’m wondering when the city is going to smooth something about the illegal camping inside, outside, and all around RCA park and in the woods north of Cherokee Dr. There is a continuous line of homeless, all day and night, with luggage, carts, and camping gear going back through the neighborhoods. They scream, fight, harass, and throw garbage everywhere and the mayor let them camp here so they still think it’s ok even though it is clearly illegal. They’ve also been burning garage and plastic the past 4 nights, which wait for it, is also illegal. Seriously, the mayor ran on addressing this problem and letting them destroy a different neighborhood is not a solution. We have little to no police presence over here and these people have been breaking multiple laws including trespassing as well. What are you guys doing about any of this?
We have an abandoned homeless encampment on our property. There is a huge amount of discarded items, trash & garbage with a strong possibility of needles. Please advise if the city will assist in the clean-up.
