Debris Removal (Sand, General Street Debris)

3005 S Olcott BLVD

Case Date:
6/17/2019

Some time ago, the street was patched by the curb of my next door neighbor. During this last storm the patch was raised up and broke into pieces. The larger pieces remained in that location but the rest of the patch and gravel washed down the street on it’s way to drain but ended up in front of my drive. The city was repairing the patch today and I asked if they could get the patch that was in front of my house and they said I would have to contact the city. I always remove debris that blocks drain but I never know what to do with all the gravel. If I know the sweeper is coming or I see them in the neighborhood I try to brush it into piles but the sweepers don’t generally get it all. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. City Construction Projects

301 E Winslow RD

Case Date:
12/9/2019

The sidewalk widening project along S. Henderson St. is extremely dangerous for pedestrians and a hazard for vehicles pulling in and out of Winslow Plaza as well. The contractor dug 2' deep x 2' footings for new curbs at the sidewalks crossing the entrances to Winslow Plaza and put up now warning signs, barricades, cones, or caution tape. No sidewalk closed signs have been put up. Who is supervising this project?

Trails

301 W Country Club DR

Case Date:
6/19/2019

Hello -- where the parking lot and sidewalk end and the Rail Trail begins (at the trailhead on Country Club Drive), there is a growing issue. The height difference between the trail and the sidewalk is becoming a real trip hazard for pedestrians, an accessibility issue for others, and a flat tire waiting to happen for cyclists. Is there a way to get this fixed up a bit? But please, please, do NOT use giant gravel. The parts of the Rail Trail that were patched with giant gravel are a disaster. Leave the bump instead of using big gravel if that is the only set of options.

This is why we can't have nice things . . . Why is this big gravel on the Rail Trail? The nice, even, soft surface of the trail has something like 3 or 4 sections where this big gravel was tossed on the trail and now it is a real issue. The big gravel is unstable for runners and walkers. The big gravel hurts the pads of dogs. And, the big gravel is a disaster to ride a bicycle across on a commute into downtown. This needs to be repaired with the big gravel gone and smaller gravel to match the existing trail surface used. You wouldn't patch a section of the B-Line with wood planks, so why mess up the rail trail like this?

This photo was taken to exaggerate the issue just a bit by the perspective, but this is an issue. The parking lot on Country Club at the B-Line Trail is getting gnarly with bushes. Is it possible to trip this back?
