See #188316. Same issue with too-bright street lamp now at 12th/Washington. Please be mindful of property boundaries when it comes to illumination and not cast light on houses, etc. Also, with the bright lights up it makes it all the more convenient for dragsters to drive extremely fast down 12th Street at night. If the City's intention is ostensibly to make the street safer, why not install stop signs somewhere, such as at Lincoln and/or Grant? The frequency of vehicles that taking advantage of the lack of any speed controls (signs, etc.) and that drive 40-50mph down the street during the evenings, night, and early mornings is angering.

The streetlight at 820 Howe street has recently been replaced, which is great --- except it's now extremely bright! Down at 344 S. Euclid, its blue light shines through a South-facing window and interferes with our sleep. Can it be dimmed (or made more yellow)?

In response to uReport case# 178546, thank you for the information as well as the contact information for IU in the case of future questions. It is good to learn that IU has made some solid changes in the ten years since the issue was thrust onto them by student activists. Reducing the use of coal-powered electricity to less than 15% and intermittent use is positive, but I think that that number should really be zero in this year of 2022. I hope that they are still encouraged by the city to completely eliminate coal and supplement their power with sustainable sources such as solar. There has been little action to address the climate crisis by the Indiana General Assembly, and Indiana has a very poor reputation on air quality as one of the worst states in the U.S. for carbon pollution. The latest United Nations climate report states that the climate crisis has reached code red for humanity. Therefore, in 2022 it is hard to swallow that there is still a coal burning power plant in the middle of a dense city on the grounds of an institution of higher education surrounded by throngs of young people with brains that are still developing. We should not be okay with anything other than zero percent. I am not sure what else the railroad line in Bloomington is used for but I know it carries coal. Perhaps, if that need went away and the rail line ever became unused, then it could be converted into a trail that all of the community could use for non-fossil fuel burning purposes. The City of Chicago did that about ten years ago with a dormant elevated rail line and it was transformative for those neighborhoods. Lastly, I leave you all with a line from the Great Law of the Haudenosaunee, the founding document of the Iroquois Confederacy, the oldest living participatory democracy on Earth. "In every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." I do not seek a reply. Thank you for your time.

We’ve been moved out of our apartment since Halloween of 2021. We moved/transferred our Duke Energy to our new location, however the move service did not shut off our old account. We did not know until last month. I called the arch apartments to have them take the bill back into their name. They did that but the bill got pushed onto my new account. The arch didn’t absorb the bill. The Arch is getting demolished and has their phone disconnected.

Hello, I am the facilities manager of Trinity Episcopal Church (111 s Grant Street). I reported a gas meter that I believe is unsafe. My case was closed with no further discussion about the concerns of the Church or the well-being and safety of us or our neighbors. The pipe on the meter is NOT well protected and it juts out beyond the profile of the building. Large trucks traverse that alley, not to mention cars. Our building has been struck on occasion by vehicles driving through or backing up while delivering food/supplies etc. The small pipe protecting the meter is only 4 feet tall and has been struck one time already by the wheel of a vehicle. We strongly believe that this will not be the last time and that our building and the well-being of its occupants are being placed in an unsafe situation. While I did not ask that the meter be moved - I would ask that it be better protected at the very least. The pipe protecting it is NOT adequate and it does not address the remainder of the gas pipe that is in danger of being struck by the mirrors or other parts of the very large trucks that regularly enter and exit that alleyway. These are the two issues we want addressed. I will be saving copies of this report and the last one - along with the city's response in our files here at Trinity. When that pipe is struck by a passing vehicle, we will be holding all of the parties we've reported this issue to, responsible. I strongly urge the City and the Gas Company Centerpoint to reconsider leaving that meter in its unsafe and inadequately protected condition.
