I really like the dog park at Switchyard, but it could use water for dogs to drink in addition to hosing stations for dogs that get dirty. It is pretty standard for fog parks to have these amenities. Unfortunately, it makes it quite difficult to visit the park without them. The park is really great otherwise, but this small addition would help greatly. Thank you!
Could we possibly get a water spigot, hose, and some plastic kiddie pools inside the fenced areas of the dog park? I belong to Karst Dog Park and those are so so valuable in these hot months.
The baby pool at Bryan park is significantly colder than the main pool. Babies need warmer water, not colder, especially now that they can’t take a break by going down the slides on their parent’s lap anymore.
Switchyard Dog Park, Large Dog enclosure Please erect a barrier promptly, around the collection of mud + water about 25 feet from the entrance. During my 1st visit with my dog on Saturday, 9-11, he noticed the area by following another dog into the mud. Note there is no hose + water source to rinse dogs, unlike Ferguson Dog Pk, which has this resource during non-winter months. In addition to causing damage to the interior of my car, the muddy substrate was not easily cleaned. A rash has developed in several areas of my dog's skin. Water alone did not remedy the muck; standard dog shampoo fared a bit better. I diluted Dawn dish detergent, which worked best but likely added to the discomfort of the rash. We have a veterinary appt on Monday to address. Again, please erect a barrier around this area and also plan for long-term, engineering solution. Thank you. (I also suggest the installation of water hoses and will submit that separately.)
I would like to complain about all of the rain outs at the Winslow baseball fields when there is no active rain. Games are being canceled by the city when the Smithville and Ellettsville leagues are still playing games. Both other leagues have people on the field clearing water and putting down quick dry every day while it appears very little effort is given to clearing water from the Winslow fields. Having city employees work on the fields or allowing volunteers to do so would make a big difference.
Games canceled again tonight even though there has been no rain in 36 hours. There were no attempts to work on them yesterday to remove water so they could have a chance to dry out today.
I completely understand that weather is no one‘s fault, but we need to find a way to protect the Winslow baseball fields from rain. My family and many others have paid for the Bloomington junior league baseball Association season and we are now going on the third consecutive night of canceled games. Only field three appears to have standing water. Can you all please work to find a solution to maybe cover or tarp the infield so they do not get waterlogged and the games can be played. Lifeguard on duty lacks much focus on swimmers in the pool. For example, she has been thoroughly engrossed in her water bottle for the last 15 minutes: taking off the lid, gazing inside it, drinking from it, gazing inside it again, staring at the lid, taking another drink, etc. Fortunately, most lifeguards at Bryan Park pool are very attentive to their safety responsibilities.
The Bryan Park pool is looking a little rough. Both of the larger water slides have graffiti on the inside that you see when you go down them. There are two mushroom-like water features in the Limestone Lagoon: one doesn't spray water anymore and the other is missing its top. The women's locker room has peeling paint and felt damp and grubby. This pool is arguably the best in town, but it is sorely in need of a refresh.
The skate park drain is clogged so water is just sitting there when it hasn't rained in a while.
