Hello. There is a problem with reckless driving in the Maple Heights neighborhood. I experience it on my daily walks on Fairview, 11th, Maple, 13th, Jackson, Rogers, etc... I see it and hear it throughout my day specifically on 13th street both west and east directions and Fairview both north and south directions. Frequently, it is a vehicle speeding north on Fairview, then turning east on 13th street. Then just a few minutes later the same car speeds in the reverse directions. Is this some sort of a methamphetamine pickup? I don't know. But it is regular, has been a regular occurrence, and I am tired of it. The worst regular occurrence are negligent, selfish motorists traveling at very high speeds from the east on 13th street heading west to Maple. I was taking in the recycling bin last night and could not believe the speed at which someone drove past me. This is not safe. There is a special needs adolescent in the neighborhood who sometimes dances around in the street. There are children that play and should have every right to play without cars traveling at high speeds past them. This is incredibly dangerous driving in a residential neighborhood and I would appreciate it if the police could enforce the traffic laws prior to their being property damage and/or personal injury. Hello, there is a massive issue with drivers running red lights and stop signs in this city. I have marked a particularly bad intersection (Madison and 11th), however this issue is city-wide. The included intersection has a wall on the bridge that prevents vehicles from seeing around the corner to 11th street, which often means that people just roll right through the stop sign. I've been almost T-boned at this intersection multiple times, and I genuinely fear I may die there some day. I have already been hit once by someone ignoring traffic laws on Third Street, and have almost been hit on foot and in my vehicle countless times downtown. It has gotten to the point where I am afraid to travel around the city. There should be traffic cameras on the stop lights, and more aggressive fines to deter these people casually ignoring safety and traffic laws. I understand that it is hard to enforce stop signs, however I have witnessed (on multiple occasions) police patrol vehicles allowing people to run right through 4-way stops, and some even do it themselves. People are learning that there are absolutely no consequences for driving recklessly around the city, and it has gotten noticeably worse. Please, consider taking action about the extremely unsafe traffic situation in our city.

The occupants of this house stand in the doorway smoking cigarettes and when they are done they throw them into the street. I have seen this many times and they take no caution about any pedestrians who are walking on a sidewalk right into the path of a flying lit cigarette. I do not feel comfortable approaching these people. Thank you for checking on this ongoing littering problem.

This time I have included a photo. This is how the sidewalk and gutter has been since I moved here a year ago. Disgusting. Note the cigarettes on the sidewalk as those are the ones thrown from the door with complete disregard for people walking in the public right of way. Previous Ureport is #175706. I own the property located at 1005 N. Jackson St, 47404. Shortly after purchasing the property the house next door burned down. We felt very fortunate that our house was not damaged. The house was demolished, however, shortly after demolishing the house someone has set up a tent on the lot and multiple people have been seen using the tent. There is trash surrounding the tent. Though we have not seen a fire there is what appears to be a makeshift fire pit. We use this property as a short term rental and it has the proper permits. I am personally concerned about the safety of my wife who spends some of her days working on improvements within the property. Obviously concerned about the impact on our ability to rent the home with the above described situation. I'm not sure what can be done but after reviewing the code it does not seem like this fits the intended use of the property. I am also empathetic to the rise of homelessness in our community, but this is a residential neighborhood and for the safety of all community members something should be done. We dodged a serious issue when the house burnt down and worry we may not be so lucky if something happens again. Thanks for your attention to this matter, please reach out with any questions. Hoping this could be resolved amicably, not trying to get anyone in trouble.

The rear retaining wall of 705 w 13th Street is a hazard as it is soon to fall like the other piece of retaining wall that fell off. Please address this hazard that is seen every day by us dog walkers using the public ROW in the alley. That large piece of limestone could fall any second and land on something or someone and it is unfair that property owners are not held accountable for maintaining their property. This rental property was inspected recently, and even with hazardous sidewalks on property as well as hazardous retaining walls, it was approved as safe for being a rental. Nope. It is not safe.
