I regret having to reach out to you regarding this bus #1372.  I boarded this bus on the East route of Route 3 this morning at approximately 7:22 AM on February 19, 2024.  I was informed by Mike Clark of Bloomington Transportation who is the operating manager, that the heater was working on that previous checked bus. Yet the heater is either not on, broken or the driver does not knbow how or desire to turn on the heater for the passenger. Furhter more, she informed me that the door heater was on, but that they do not work on some of the buses, as was the case on this bus this morning. There is no need to make passengers suffer like this.  The bus was NOT cold because of opening & closing the doors as MIke Clark previously suggested when I wrote to him regarding this bus.  The heat was simply not coming out of the overhead vents, there was only cold at the vents & the poles for holding onto were cold as well, indicating it had not been on for some time.  The dispatch operator's boss informed me begrudgingly that the bus was in fact bus #1372.  Since the dispatch operator could not be bothered to assist the driver in operating the heater that was alleged to be operating properly according to Mike Clark, I am forced to issue this complaint to the you the City of Bloomington government for heat on the buses in the Winter to be turned on & operating properly for the buses that do not have a heating system functioning or for the bus drivers who feel that we do not need the heat in the Winter. Hi, When attempting to drive westbound on Countryside Lane outside Summit Elementary, we were told by a crossing guard that they were allowed to completely block westbound traffic and would not allow us to drive in the eastbound lane due to “their walkers”. I raised a complaint with the principal several weeks ago about not only convenience, but also the fact that emergency vehicles are not able to drive through. They responded indicating that people are only supposed to be parking on the far westbound side of the street and not blocking traffic, but that is not what’s happening. How do they have the authority to block traffic and decide who is or is not allowed to drive on a public street? They said it was “for 15 minutes” but no drop/off pick/up ever takes a mere 15 minutes as parents start lining up we before school lets out.

The metal drain cover in front of Mother Bear's at 1428 E Third Street has fallen in (again). It clearly is not stable and one day someone may trip over it.

The brush along the sidewalk has encroached so much that I have to step into the street in a few places. I’m sure the adjacent property is owned by the railroad. Can we clean it up and charge them? This area could use attention by Brighten BTown - the weeds are really tall along the curbs, and there have been many car accidents, but no follow up by a street sweeper.

On the corner of Covenanter and high on the right as you’re heading south on high there’s a dangerous drop off into a rocky drainage area that needs to have a guardrail or some type of protection. The road lists in the direction of the drop off and at some point fire and rescue is going to have to fish a car out of the drop off. Not sure how this was allowed to be built without a guardrail. It may be the biggest pothole in the city.

See closed case #184736: in front of Mother Bear's on E Third Street. The metal drain cover on the sidewalk again has fallen in and is a tripping hazard for pedestrians. Maybe it is time to look for a more permanent solution rather than just putting it back in its place.

Re: 4784 S Abington Ave Acct: 89652-002 Please look at water bills for Dec, Jan, Feb. There was a broken water meter that resulted in an extreme excess of charge to my account. The water meter has since been fixed. However, since this was out of my control and I had no bearing in the broken water meter, nor its repair, I am hoping there can be some concession on my utility account. There are a couple intersections around where I live that 100% need to be four way stops. It is incredibly scary trying to creep up and look for cars that could be coming because it is impossible to see them without being practically in the middle of the road. The biggest problem areas are on Smith Ave and E University St. For a more detailed location I would be willing to take some pictures once I get a response.
