On Saturday, May 29, 2021, this City-owned site was producing a lot of loud construction noises after 10:30pm. The noises included audible beeping from trucks or equipment backing up and loud banging noises, possibly the sound of either dump truck tailgates slamming on the bed of the trucks or some sort of excavator hitting the ground repeatedly. City ordinances only allow construction noises up to 10pm. Can the City be a better neighbor and not produce these loud, annoying noises at such late hours of the day?

Hello - Will someone with the City provide some details on the constant sound of heavy machinery on the south side of Bloomington? This has been going on for a while and I am unable to determine the exact source. I think it might be coming from two places, both of which appear to have connections to the City of Bloomington. The first location is to the west of the police and fire training center on S. Walnut. On many days, such as right now (for the past 30+ minutes at least), there are periods of time where there is a continuous noise from some sort of construction equipment, a diesel engine. I do not know the exact nature of what it is doing, but I cannot spend time on my deck as it is quite loud out there and when I am inside my house I can hear the noise as well. And it is more than just noise, it seems to have a deeper feel to it than simple noise by the nature of the equipment and work being done.
The second location of interest is accessed from W. Gordon Pike. This area is north of Gordon Pike, between Rogers and Walnut. The entrance has a stone wall on either side of the driveway. I have observed dump trucks marked with the City of Bloomington logo going in and out of there. That site produces loud banging noises periodically, like the sound of dump trucks dumping something or being loaded.
This all started in earnest within the last 6-8 months it seems like, although there have been less consistent bouts of such noises before that time frame.
I would like to know if these are City operations, what exactly is going on, and how much longer these operations will continue. The use and enjoyment of my property is being greatly diminished by the noise and in a pandemic where I am home most of the day, that is incredibly frustrating.

The amount of continuous noise being produced from somewhere in this location on S. Walnut Street is ridiculous. All day, the sound of construction equipment driving around and dumping stuff and pounding things. This has gone on for a long time now. Can this not be stopped? In a pandemic with work from home, some people don't have an option to go elsewhere. It seems like it is a training course for heavy machinery operators or a place where really slow construction crews go to work.

It is 10:10pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021. There is some sort of machinery making all sorts of racket in the area over around the police shooting range property or the city utilities property off of Gordon Pike. This is a constant, ongoing problem. Why is there this noise after 10pm? This is absurd. Can the City not figure this out and put some reasonable restrictions on the use of these properties? The properties are not zoned for construction equipment like this anyway. Do citizens need to take the enforcement into our own hands and start investigations and collect evidence and file lawsuits to permanently enjoin this ridiculous behavior? Figure it out.

There was a temporary traffic sign placed in front of the property. The street construction is complete, but the sign was never removed. The sign was blown over by the wind and has become an eye sore. It would be great if the city could get that picked up...
