Debris Removal (Sand, General Street Debris)

1305 1/2 W 11th ST

Case Date:
1/1/2020

1305 West 11th Street. This is not the first time I have reported this property. This property is absolutely stacked with with junk, construction debris, rubbish, and who knows what else. It is immoral and an obscenity for these people to disrespect their neighbors in this way. Speaking for myself, it detracts from the enjoyment and value of my own property right nearby. This property is zoned single family residence. I want it cleaned up. Since no code was enforced previously, allow me to remind you: 6.06.010 - Definitions. "Rubbish" means nonputrescible solid wastes consisting of both combustible and noncombustible wastes, such as paper, cardboard, tin cans, wood, glass, bedding, crockery, construction debris, and similar materials. 6.06.020 - Deposit of garbage. It is unlawful for any person to throw, place, or scatter any garbage, recyclable materials or yard waste over or upon any premises, street, alley, either public or private, or to suffer or permit any garbage, recyclable materials or yard waste to be placed or deposited on the premises owned, occupied or controlled by such person either with or without the intent to later remove, cover, or burn it. This provision shall not restrict the filling of low lands within the city with brick, stone, sand, gravel, cold ashes, or dirt after the appropriate permit has been obtained from the city engineering department. 6.06.110 - Violations. Violations of the provisions of this chapter are declared a PUBLIC NUISANCE. Each day that a violation continues shall constitute a separate violation. Everything stacked in the front and side yard of that property clearly fits into that definition and those violations. People are NOT allowed to stack up a bunch of old lumber, doors, windows, and other junk in their yards in the middle of the city! Period! Now, I EXPECT you to enforce these ordinances EQUALLY across the entire city. I remind you that lawsuits can be filed against "nuisance properties." In addition, I wish to point out that in other cities in similar situations, a writ of mandamus has been used to compel the city to enforce its ordinances. All I am asking for is some respect for the homeowners around that property.

City Construction Projects

301 E 19th ST

Case Date:

Whenever I return home from work every night, I am always greeted by the mud from construction. Someone else has reported this issue December last year, but I don’t see any improvement.

Business

1723 W Gray ST

Case Date:
10/13/2021

This property was a house that was converted into a garage which is a building code violation on multiple levels. The property has broken down cars all the way up to the road, and the property is being operated as a business for fixing cars which is a complete violation of city ordinances.

Blocked Sidewalk

505 W 4th ST

Case Date:
6/28/2018

Since this building is no longer a garage, it seems that a full curb should be installed to prevent people from pulling up on the sidewalk. There are constantly cars parked on the sidewalk here (several feet in past the yellow painted curb (which is flattened because it used to be a garage). I asked the tenants to stop, and then today a dumpster showed up on the sidewalk. This is the North side of the "FAR" gallery building at fourth and rogers. Obviously this is frustrating to me but it's probably pretty annoying for the kid in a wheelchair who i see going back and forth to school and having to cross the street to get around.

Blocked Sidewalk

201 S Jefferson ST

Case Date:
10/29/2018

The pedestrian walk between Jefferson and Roosevelt where Fourth St. would be if it continued between these two streets is partially blocked at the Jefferson end by vegetation, including a young redbud tree. I reported this about a month ago, and nothing has been done. Could someone at least please tell me if and when the walk is going to be cleared, and if not, why not? As far as I know, it's a public walkway.
