Thank you for recently covering an open utility hole in this area by the alley. We noticed another one this morning a bit west of that one. It is also between Fess and Park on Cottage Grove. This one is approximately half-way between Fess and the alley between and parallel to Fess and Park, about 8 feet north of the sidewalk on the north side of Cottage Grove. It is smaller than the last one, maybe 6-8 inches, and looks quite old, unused, and slightly crooked. Maybe just fill it with dirt (?)

They had a water line or sewer line emergency at 719 W 7th and contractors tore up a lot of sidewalk on the South Side of W 7th Street in front of the house. Who is responsible for repair or sidewalk? This happened Thursday night and continued all day Friday 12/15. Contractor was Snedegar Construction.

As a home owner on old 37 N whose property’s easement is being used for the new line, I have some questions. The work has torn up an existing asphalt sidewalk that runs from marlin to the first house on Old 37 N along with a retaining wall in front of my house, my property sits down form the road. Exposed garbage, rats and other animals opening bags of garbage at 710 E. Cottage Grove, which is next to a state-licensed day care facility. Also, speeding traffice on E. Cottage Grove, no sidewalk crossing or slow speed or children playing signs at this intersection.

See case #186242. Not as much sewage right now due to tenants being on break this week, but the problem has not been corrected. Once it gets cold and the tenants return, the constant flow of sewage on the sidewalk will create an ice hazard in addition to the already present infection/contamination hazard. Please force property owner to correct the problem ASAP, and at least before winter. If the Planning is allowing him to build more (unneeded) rentals in the neighborhood (e.g., E. Cottage Grove), he should be required to perform at least some upkeep of the ones he is already responsible for.
