Sidewalk Requests

17th & Kinser Pike, Bloomington, IN 47404, USA

Case Date:
12/23/2020

Please put in crosswalks here. This is a dangerous intersection and there is a lot of foot traffic here. I had to jump out of the way of a car that came within a few inches of hitting me when I was crossing when I had right-of-way. Also please extend the sidewalk north of here on the west side of Kinser Pike; it stops at the Midas property line and people have to cross to the east side of Kinser for a sidewalk or they walk along the road or in people's yards.

Traffic Suggestions

1799 N Kinser Pike

Case Date:
11/13/2024

This intersection has a lot of accidents that occur. It could be because the lights aren’t green for long, but they’ll be red for a long time. Maybe the yellow light timing is too short. I know INDOT controls this area, but hopefully a nearby resident’s concerns could help expedite a solution.

Graffiti

1794 S Ramsey DR

Case Date:

Walking from the parking lot at Sycamore along the trail there is offensive language in my opinion that should be painted over but, potentially a nice native plant mural would be refreshing! I believe this is below the E Queens Way Dr overpass.

Unsafe Buildings

1791 Yockey Rd

Case Date:
5/6/2025

This house is listed for rent for $1500 a month. The house is uninhabitable. The roof leaks, there is mold throughout, there is an open well/water pit underneath an unstable outbuilding with bad flooring, you can see outside from inside throughout the entire place, boards are falling off in several places. The environmental health was on site and said it needs a new septic system by June 2, 2025. The landlord knows this and put it up for rent the very next day. There are plenty of videos and photos of what is going on with the property.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

1790 E 10th St, Bloomington, IN 47408美国

Case Date:
4/18/2024

Hello, My name is Yangzheng WU. I stepped into a pothole on the road in front of SRSC and got a flat tire on 4/15 after class at 9:15pm from Kelley in the direction of campus view. There was a single pothole in the road about fifteen centimeters in radius and about 3-5 centimeters deep. It was in the middle of the lane, in the middle of the normal path of travel. There were no warning signs around this pothole, and there were no street lights directly above the pothole, so you couldn't see it driving at night. Therefore, I would like to know if I can apply for compensation for the damages caused by the pothole? Please email me at [email protected] if you need more information. Thank you so much for your help!

There is no sidewalk that connects the bypass to campus streets. Almost daily there are people walking in the roadway on 17th Street between the Bypass and David Baker.

Nuisance Lights

1789 E 10th ST

Case Date:
3/7/2025

I'm not sure who's responsible for this bank of lights on a high pole near the railroad underpass on East 10th St. Could it be shielded so that it lights whatever needs to be lit without being such an eyesore? It's very glaring, and the bulbs face outward (sideways) rather than downward.

Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

1787 W 3rd ST

Case Date:
10/3/2025

Sidewalk along Landmark has no curb ramp on one end for wheelchairs and power chairs to get on and off. And on the other end which was just redone really has no curb ramp either. You might be able to drive an RC car on it that how narrow the flat spot is. You cant drive a chair up on it because its not flat. People in wheelchairs and Powerchairs are avoiding this and going the wrong way down the street towards 3rd in a blind curve. Its only a matter of time before a car rounds that blind curve to find a wheel chair user in the lane also heading towards them. We just had a girl stuck out there today trying to get on the sidewalk but couldn't. Somebody is gonna get hit. Please let us know how we can help you help this matter. Best Wishes, Kevin.
