Please look at Smith Ave between Walker and Euclid Streets. Growth along the length encroaches into the street. And the intersections with Davisson and Buckner are especially troublesome for those at the stop sign who cannot see approaching traffic. The Buckner/Smith intersection the view to the west is blocked by two vehicles always parked next to the road.
These the leaf-filled holes in Bryan Park. In the area where, I was told, and underground stream flows and then feeds into Sheridan Creek. I thought they might be burrowing crawdads holes. Someone else (see photo comment) suggests broken drainage tile. Was that area ever drained and tiled? In either case, can anything be done?
I have seen people who seem to be city and/or parks employees drive private and city vehicles off S. Stull Ave and on to the grass to get around the chain at the equipment garage. Maybe the chain could be locked with something easier to open.
Pothole on Summit Street, south bound lane, close to the T intersection of Summit and 12th. Thanks for all you do.
The tree in front of 928 N Jackson Street has broken and fallen over the sidewalk.
I work in an IU office at 914 E Atwater. Our parking area is in the alley behind the building. It is reached through either an east-west or a north-south alley. Most of the houses along the alleys are rental properties; at least one is a private residence. There is a lot of overgrowth from the yards that extends into the alleys. I already have a scratch on my brand-new car because of being brushed by some of that overgrowth as I pulled into a place, having had to swing wide enough to fit in between two cars. Is there anything that can be done about brush that grows into an alley? Am I within my legal rights to bring a lopper to work to cut off the brush and small trees that are narrowing the alleyway? My old car had a number of scratches for the same reason, and I was hoping to avoid it with this one. But no such luck. On a related note, it is difficult and a bit dangerous trying to turn right from the east-west alley onto Faculty. Between the power pole and the overgrowth, visibility is terrible. I am happy to do the trimming if I won't get in trouble either with the city or with the homeowners, but it obviously would be better if the city could do it. Please see the included photo, which consists of two different views. Thank you.
Persistent, seasonal deep pothole in the same spot it's been for the past several years. This has been patched multiple times. Something more permanent is needed.
In front of Alumni Building on 17th Street, there was a crosswalk sign in the middle of 17th that apparently was hit by a vehicle. The IU Grounds Department picked up the pieces and took them to our shop at 901 E. 13th Street. They can contact the grounds supervisor, Rick Stanger at 812-855-0050 if they want to meet him and pick up the pieces of the sign. Thanks Jill.
On the southeast corner of the intersection at Woodlawn and Maxwell, runoff from the yard on that corner is causing significant ice accumulation on the road. It's impossible to pull up properly to the stop sign going north without veering into the middle of Woodlawn. I have lived on Maxwell for more than 20 years and don't recall seeing this problem before. There is a fire hydrant on the corner of the property, so perhaps this is the source of the water?
