I regret having to reach out to you regarding this bus #1372.  I boarded this bus on the East route of Route 3 this morning at approximately 7:22 AM on February 19, 2024.  I was informed by Mike Clark of Bloomington Transportation who is the operating manager, that the heater was working on that previous checked bus. Yet the heater is either not on, broken or the driver does not knbow how or desire to turn on the heater for the passenger. Furhter more, she informed me that the door heater was on, but that they do not work on some of the buses, as was the case on this bus this morning. There is no need to make passengers suffer like this.  The bus was NOT cold because of opening & closing the doors as MIke Clark previously suggested when I wrote to him regarding this bus.  The heat was simply not coming out of the overhead vents, there was only cold at the vents & the poles for holding onto were cold as well, indicating it had not been on for some time.  The dispatch operator's boss informed me begrudgingly that the bus was in fact bus #1372.  Since the dispatch operator could not be bothered to assist the driver in operating the heater that was alleged to be operating properly according to Mike Clark, I am forced to issue this complaint to the you the City of Bloomington government for heat on the buses in the Winter to be turned on & operating properly for the buses that do not have a heating system functioning or for the bus drivers who feel that we do not need the heat in the Winter. The water runoff from Sare Road travels down McCartney Lane to end in a very small drain that is not large enough to facilitate proper drainage. This photo was from yesterday‘s mild rain. At times the water is much deeper and standing longer because the drain is clogged. A larger drain needs to be installed or possibly an additional drain as well, further up the road. This may be leading to erosion of soil and possibly foundation issues and needs to be addressed soon. We are also due to have our road paved this year so the drainage would need to be fixed prior to that. Please advise.

It seems with the hospital construction that the speed limit signs (20MPH) coming onto E Discovery Pkwy from the bypass were never replaced. There is also a "children at play" sign way up on the hill by the childcare's fence, but there is nothing within driver view, near the road, that indicates this area should be slower and that children may be present. Could you please consider adding these signs for the safety of the children? People have been FLYING through there at 40+ MPH. Thank you.

Can the sidewalk at xxx East 7th Street be shaved down to eliminate the height difference between the two adjoining slabs? See photo attached. This height difference can be dangerous for westbound cyclists riding on the sidewalk who need to negotiate both a quick right turn and a left turn to enter the SR46 underpass. Now that an asphalt multi-use path has been built at Relato Bloomington at the intersection of Pete Ellis Drive and Longview Avenue, westbound cyclists are more apt to ride on the path/sidewalk vs. the street, and will continue to ride on the sidewalk all the way to the underpass. Cyclists will be going at speed since it is downhill westbound. To negotiate this sidewalk height disparity, while at the same time negotiating a sweeping turn, poses a dangerous situation that can be easily eliminated.

There is a homeless camp behind our subdivision, Shady Acres at 708 S.Cory Lane. They have been walking through here to access the main roads. This is a small subdivision with probably 60% widow and/or single elderly women. We are requesting help in getting this camp removed. Thank you. Susan Scales 812.219.5738

A few minutes ago, a white dump truck without City emblems stopped in front of my house. Two men got out and shoveled the leaves from the drain in front of my house and across the street into the drains. I thought we weren’t supposed to put leaves in the drain. The drain in front of my house is my adopt-a-drain, so it didn't have many leaves but the one across the street had more.

On the corner of Covenanter and high on the right as you’re heading south on high there’s a dangerous drop off into a rocky drainage area that needs to have a guardrail or some type of protection. The road lists in the direction of the drop off and at some point fire and rescue is going to have to fish a car out of the drop off. Not sure how this was allowed to be built without a guardrail. It may be the biggest pothole in the city.

I don't have a current photo but particularly since the utility work completed on this stretch of road the parking spots in front of the shops flood and hold water. The gradient actually seems to slope away from the drain instead of towards. As a result, we frequently have to bail out the parking spots to make them usable for customers. Flooding issues include the accessible parking spot, which poses a risk to the mobility impaired. How can we best collaborate on a solution? Thanks!
