Question: why do my house plumbing leaks occur when lots of people leave town for vacation? This happens not every vacation, but most of the leaks in my house have occurred like today, at vacation time, or 4th of july, etc. Is it that city water pressure to my house goes up then? Do you try to regulate pressure for this vacation exodus?
From Reddit Bloomington: Fiber cables damaging sewer lines We live right next to Bryan Park. About a week ago our toilet backed up, and after multiple visits from our (very honest and reasonable) plumber, we discovered that the city's fiber optic internet contractor had carelessly run an optic cable directly through our sewer line. This caused a ton of debris to get into our drain pipe and completely clog the pipe, necessitating a $10k repair. I called the city and apparently, this is happening to people all over town. (The person in the utilities office said I was the third person to call today with this exact problem, and our plumber said that this contractor got thrown out of Carmel for damaging so many sewer lines).
My water is off. There has been work in the area, but no communication about it. No work occurring today. I am quite disturbed that it appears I might be without water for a while with no information about it.
Water is not coming in from the main. Suspect frozen pipe leading to house.
We had a water main break a few feet from this location about 6 months ago. I know a utility worker came out and said there was no issue, but you might want to double check. Seems like a lot of water to just randomly show up.
Reported to Mike Carter via email 1/11/18. Reporting to uReport as well. FYI. With the new snow, it’s a lot easier to see where the leak is at. I hope you had a nice long weekend… Best, Rick On Jan 11, 2018, at 2:27 PM, Rick Birch Dietz wrote: Mike, here’s the scoop on the leak we discussed. Thanks! I live at 1500 E Maxwell Ln. I’m at the SE corner of Maxwell and Sheridan. There appears to be water pooling on east side of Sheridan near the western entrance to my driveway. I noticed ice here a few times last winter but thought it was just frozen road runoff and it wasn’t super cold last year so ice build-up wasn’t significant. But it’s been well below freezing and there shouldn’t be standing water. I didn’t observe anything like this in the spring, summer or fall. I assume there’s a small water line leak underground, perhaps underneath the road. The road is cracked along the edge so there may be some freeze/thaw going on. It doesn’t seem to be an emergency — the flow seems pretty minimal but it does generate some ice south of the wet area when below freezing. I wanted to report this now that I realize what is going on. I placed a stake with orange flagging tape in the area where it seems like water is coming to the surface. Thanks for looking into this. Is there still a boil water advisory for 1539 S Maxwell St?
In the street adjacent to 3152 s Coppertree , a cover is half missing
On E. Reed Court the street drains are blocked by leaves, causing flooding that has made the road impassable to compact cars
