Can we start to have a conversation about the deer population in this town? I walked Sussex Dr yesterday and counted ten deer (!) in 3 groups: doe and 2 fawns, doe and 3 fawns, doe and 2 fawns - all within 2 city blocks!! As we approached the first group using the city sidewalk the mother agressively came after us, stomping her foot. We had to cross the street and walk very slowly to avoid her defensive aggression. This is all well within the city limits. Why should I have to fear them when I'm walking around my own neighborhood? They've already forced several of ourneighbors to install concentration camp fencing to protect their landscaping. Many of our other neighbors have all their landscaping in cages. I like watching deer, too, but come on now - at this point they are pests without a predator to keep them under control. Have we gone too far? Culling is in order. Note: I didn't even mention the costs of hitting one with a car or motorcyle.

A neighborhood deer died of natural causes (disease?) this past Monday March 26th on the sidewalk on the side of my house at 425 E Dodds St. We immediately called the city to report it and were told someone could come remove it on Tuesday or Wednesday. We called again Wednesday late afternoon and were told someone would probably come Thursday to remove it.
It is now Friday evening, March 30th, and no one has come or contacted me. The deer is now decaying and something is starting to eat it at night. As the Bryan Park neighborhood have homes quite close together, I'm afraid the smell will start to bother the neighbor, and I'm afraid that the dead animal is becoming a health hazard and will spread disease.
I was told when I called on Wednesday no one had come to remove it yet because the vehicle that is typically used was out of service, but that it would probably be back in service on Thursday. If the vehicle is not yet back in service, the city should hire a contractor to come remove the deer - I would have done so myself at the beginning of the week if I had known it was going to be left rotting all week.
Thanks for your assistance, and for everyone's peace of mind I have not attached a picture.

This family has a makeshift fence that is unstable and proceeds into the sidewalk. They also have a dog that lunges and feels unsafe (especially with a makeshift fence so close to the sidewalk) when walking by. My kids are scared and it's on a busy neighborhood corner that a lot of kids walk by.
