Running north on Bline with my daughter at ~10:30 am was verbally harassed by a group of 4 men who appeared to be unhoused gathered by the tables adjacent to Wonderlab garden. Comments were of a sexual nature. It would be appreciated if you could step up patrols in that area. Thank you.
Behind the Bloomington Antique Mall on the B-Line Trail an old homeless lady loudly screams for hours. She sits on a bench on the trail and screams almost every single day, various times of the day. She will scream at pedestrians on the trail.
There is a lady that stands there with a sign, not a lot, but a few times I have seen her. She is hostile towards the cars sitting at the stop light waiting for the light to turn green. She was shaking her fist at me and I thought she was going to start beating my car. There are homeless all around that area which needs to be addressed, but if any person starts beating on my car for whatever their reason is I do consider that person to be violent and I am fearing for my life. That is not acceptable in our city. Clean up our streets Bloomington.
This specific incident involved a Lime scooter, but I urge you to please ban ALL motorized scooters from Bloomington. My family and I were just coming back from the airport yesterday when we saw a young woman collide head-first into a car in cross-traffic (without a helmet because of course, none of these scooters come with helmets) because her brake stopped working. This was no one's fault but the manufacturers'. But given how much they make, I'm doubtful much will come out of it if she were to take legal action. There have been so many accidents (some fatal, as you know) in so many cities, including ours, due to these companies dumping scooter after scooter onto seemingly every busy sidewalk, and it is completely within your control to ban them here--after all, Indianapolis did. I would like to know your reasons for allowing them to continue to be used in Bloomington when we know how dangerous they have and will continue to be, as long as they are on the streets.. Just how many more accidents must we see and hear about until something concrete is done?
Scooter parked in Winslow development near my house at 2227 S Bent Tree Drive. Has been there for 2 to 3 days.
Follow-up Case #179422. "Good afternoon, sorry for the delay in response, I was unsure of who to send this type of case. Forwarding to Parking Services thank you" Two comments: 1) after several years and lots of scooter complaints (media, uReport, etc.) it's strange that it wasn't routine where to refer it 2) maybe that explains why not a single ticket has been for improperly parked scooters. Anyhow, I suggest that routine monitoring of sidewalks (downtown at least) be assigned to Parking Enforcement
The BMCMPO received the following message/question from Mr. Sam Melchior ([email protected]) who asked the following: "Hi, I was wondering if there is any consideration of geo fencing the IU campus and downtown to control the dangerous use of e scooters. They are terribly dangerous and do not provide the safe eco friendly transportation advertised. Sam, a concerned citizen " We would ask that someone respond to Mr. Melchior regarding the geofencing of scooters within the City of Bloomington. Thanks, Pat Martin Planning & Transportation Department
Group of kids riding their skateboards up and down the driveway creating disturbance and potential car related accidents
Someone was killed by a drunk driver and I can’t use my scooter anymore because the city is a bunch of idiots.
