There is a homeless encampment in the woods across the creek immediately behind my home in a residential neighborhood. A matter of feed away from my property. I have sent a letter/email to Mayor and Dep Mayor with no response. As the leaves fall, I will be staring at the encampment and they will be staring right into my home. I have to regularly call the fire dept due to fires at the encampment. I have to listen to them scream, yell and fight. I am also a licensed rehabber and am terribly upset with the way they have ruined the wildlife territory. The woods behind my home is one of the primary reasons that I bought my home almost 10 years ago. I am worried for my children's safety and well being (as well as my own) as the encampment grows. I am devastated that there is now a potential that part of those woods will be removed due to the encampment. There is also a daycare 3 houses from mine as well as several children who I have seen play around the woods and should be able to without fear of an encampment and being hurt. I will happily provide any needed info, picts I have, etc.
Hello, Bloomington has a safety problem with its homeless population. Our daughter is a senior at IU, she lives off campus, near downtown. She calls me as she walks places because she is afraid of the homeless and their behavior. This afternoon I received a call to tell me two homeless men were walking through their neighborhood, under the influence, and checking doors of homes as they went through the area. The City needs to address this issue to insure its residents are safe.

Just curious if there was any discussion with city staff about the air quality being hazardous? I would like to recommend if possible to have restaurants restrict outside seating until air quality is better. Just like with the Covid-19 pandemic where the government shut down businesses, I believe the city should restrict where possible outdoor seating is available for the safety of public. Please help local merchants and do something about all the people that have stolen shopping carts all over town. I counted 6 at seminary park alone the other day!!! Contact the police department and give them direction to help address this problem and hold the people stealing shopping carts accountable! From what I’ve heard, the police are currently instructed to not address this issues. The city has an obligation to its (tax paying) citizens to uphold the law!
I am not finding where to record my concern of the proposed jail. It should not be in a highly populated residential area that includes an elementary school. There has to be a better location. The one property was rejected due to wrong zoning. I know that zoning can be changed. If it proceeds in this populated area and property values go down, will taxes go down also? There is a homeless man with a dog named John outside the Starbucks on Indiana ave, and I really want to see the city help this man out, he is a lovely soul and deserves to be helped
As I read this article GOP senators announce bill to block payments to illegal immigrants from separated families, it brought me to petition to give instruction or to inform my elected official's of our constitutional representative republic that as such the city is backing constrictive treason for the support shown in the May 17 2010 notice SB 1070 to seek to conspire to knowing back ILL -legal immigration. The Mayor has the power to start the process to repeal the notice. In doing so will help restore the constitutional order in such matters and displace the unconstitutional strive of plight of danger's of Communistic values & its sister Mob democracy which such a misapplication distorts the sovereignty of America.
