Tuesday morning around 8 a parks employee was blowing dust around near the basketball courts and nearby parking lot. A leaf blower in both hands. Why? Air and noise pollution, carbon footprint. Years ago every morning except Sunday at 7:30 the playground on the Henderson side had dust blown around. Worse then because those blowers had more powerful motors. But why? What is accomplished? I mean this as a serious question. When I see employees spraying a picnic shelter with liquid from a tank, i figure that is disinfectant or pesticides for an area where people eat, drop food, attract pests. I get it. But the dust blowing, I just dont Thanks

I am a Park Department volunteer and have adopted Southeast Park. Following the last storm in June, I checked the park for downed limbs and branches. I found the majority of storm-debris east of the paved path and picked the debris up and then moved the material to the tree line slope east of the parking lot. A few days later I observed a large pile of tree and brush within the park edge adjacent to the park shelter parking lot.
I thought this pile was suspecious and today while I took apicture of the pile. As I was leaving the park a Park Department worker drove up and I asked him if the pile was made by park staff. He said he was unaware and was going to take a picture. When I got home I reported it to one of the park department staff involved with the volunteer program. I have emailed my picture to her. In many of the parks, including Southeast Park we have encountered park neighbors dumping their yard waste onto park property.

Piece of barbed wire directly on the trail at RCA Park. It is the part of the trail that comes out into the neighborhood midway down Countryside. I passed the sign that explains that the stand of trees along this section of the trail indicates that it had once been a road. The wire is very close to where the goes out onto the sidewalk. It is dangerous because it is directly on the trail so it isn't obvious as you walk.

Rather than blowing the dust around this and other Bryan Park playground, perhaps park employees could weed the mulch. I think it looks OK, but a better use of employee time, I think. Or take care of the weeds on the various spruce trees along the paths. That latter item may already be on a regular maintenance calendar, but that too would be more useful than dust blowing.

The trees and bushes in the Rail Trail parking lot along Country Club Drive are getting rather overgrown. The branches and bushes are obstructing the pedestrian and bicycle path that goes along the east edge of the parking lot to connect the Rail Trail to the B-Line. Can this all get trimmed back? Cut it back far enough it doesn't just grow right back in 2 weeks. Thanks.
