Last summer I contacted the city (Ureport case 192429) regarding city trees in my front yard (tulip poplar) that were infected by a "tulip tree scale" insect. I live in Tamarron and there are a number of other tulip poplar trees infected by the same bug. Haskell Smith said to contact him this spring to let him know and the city will treat the trees to keep them from dying. I would like to request that the "volunteer" workers that are cutting new trails into a state-designated nature preserve across from my home be stopped immediately. The state designates "nature preserve" land to be preserved for natural ecological functions. It's the highest protection the state can place on natural land. These "volunteers" are cutting new trails which increases the spread of invasive species. The ecological integrity of these precious few acres is already compromised by the proximity to homes and these new and poorly designed trails are adding to the stress and degradation of this natural space. They are using lawn mowers and power tools which disrupt nesting bird habitats. They cut one Asian Honeysuckle allowing several more to take its place. Trash bags with refuse are left for weeks by these volunteers. I understand that the intentions are to remove invasives but what is actually occurring does nothing but spread the same invasives. It is a misguided effort and needs to cease immediately. I have a Master's degree in Park and Public Land Management from IU and have seen this happen numerous times in other locations. In this case it seems that a small group of volunteers desired a walking trail next to their neighborhood and began "volunteering" to create these trails. While not a big deal on private land, these particular lands are designated by the state for the highest protection possible. I would be more than happy to discuss this further and suggest some alternative activities for this group of volunteers. You have my email and I hope we can come to a resolution that will stop the infringement of these state-protected lands. Thank you for your time.

A tree limb and vines around a couple of wires leading to a phone pole. The vines are pulling the wires down. I am on home dialysis and my supplies come on a semi every other week. The truck almost pulled them down, since they are so low. Acutally that whole south side of the tree needs cut back, the City normally does that but hasn't this year. Thank you for your time.

I have requested in the past that the trees in the city tree plot desperately need to be trimmed. I'm not sure who does this but I have requested several times and no such luck on them getting trimmed.

Mr. Jesseph works at German-American Bank, and asked that the tree directly outside the bank be trimmed if possible. When the bank lowers its flag to half-mast (which has happened unfortunately often recently), it gets caught in the tree and ruins the flag.

The parking lot for the North Cascades Skatepark has several lights out. The lights do not belong to Duke Energy. Resident is concerned about poor lighting conditions as a safety risk.

Hello! I’m a resident of 639 north maple street. On my dead end street, there is an untrimmed, unofficial entrance that MANY residents of the neighborhood access on a daily basis. However, the path that has been roughly paved by passerby’s is steep, rocky, untrimmed and dangerous, especially in rain or snow. Even in the summer, it is dangerous. Children and pregnant women have issues going through here. I have tried to enter the b-line this way, but it’s too dangerous and steep for me. Anyway we can get something done for the neighborhood? We know there’s a sidewalk and safer way after the bridge on 11th to access, but out of convenience or maybe ambiance, most people enter through our dead end makeshift entrance. The makeshift entrance seems to not be in a definitive tenants yard/property. No one really knows. If someone could come check it out, that’d be great and appreciated. Thanks! - Ruth
