Sidewalk Requests

Dear all,
I am writing you finally since I have been unhappy with the situtation of E Matlock Rd since we moved there around 15 years ago. The road should have a side walk on one side that goes all the way to the IU golf course (sure it would be great to have sidewalks or bikelane to Griffy Lake). But let's start small. Many people cross the bypass and go running, biking and walking in the area. Since they just come from the bypass the cars are often back to speed up again or come from the end of the street and speed up the hill. A lane for bikes and pedestrians or only pedestrians would at least protect them from always to watch every second. If out of a reason this sidewalk would not be an option please look into some speedbumps (maybe 2) on the street or at least one. People either race up the hill or down and it would be great to slow them down. It is a 30 zone but many drive 50m/h. Please let me know if there are talks about slowing down this street or putting in a sidewalk.
thanks,
Concerned citizen of Bloomington,
Heike Meya

Sign for Affordable Pet Fence is in the ROW as you approach Walnut Street. I contacted the company several days ago, but they have not removed the sign.

The affordable housing located at the 2600 N Block of Walnut street on both sides has no connectivity to public transportation and no sidewalks connecting them to the nearest bus stop and grocery store. As a result pedestrians, including vulnerable elderly, are frequently seen walking in the bike lanes of N Walnut Street. The broken sidewalks between the intersection of Walnut and 45/46 and the affordable housing just north of Walnut and Fritz need to be made continuous as a matter of public safety before another pedestrian is killed.

Again, I ask for speed bumps. Traffic count doesn't matter. Renters, a shortcut mentality, and the fact that we DO NOT HAVE SIDEWALKS are the problem. I work from home now and take frequent walks, as do my neighbors. PLEASE help us! Thank you.

This wall has been across the sidewalk for TWO MONTHS now. The property is owned by J.R.R. Management (in Indy) and they have not cleaned this up. My partner had to move it out of my driveway to park my car. This barely makes the sidewalk wide enough for wheelchairs. There is also glass all along this sidewalk and it needs to be swept. I am disabled and can't do this myself.

Junk car disabled on Habitat Street. Hoarding of metal and useless junk, clothing strewn about along with open storage containers and items not for out door use between houses. How can the city let this kind of pollution go on for years ? So disgusting and disrespectful. John Hamilton should be ashamed for not doing something about the weak codes concerning this issue which is all too common in this town. The mayor himself said he would “look” into it years ago. There has been no change.

Although the map doesn't indicate it, there is a house on the corner that appears to be running a commercial paint company. There's a trailer with no less than 50 5 gal paint buckets and a storage trailer as well. Not sure if paint is leeching out of the trailer but it looks like crap in a residential neighborhood.

I have speeding cars using my street (East Park Lane) as a shortcut from/to Smith Rd to 3rd St/Pete Ellis. This will only get worse when the new IU hospital opens. We have new families with children walking and biking this street. There isn't a sidewalk and this isn't about the amount of traffic. It is a road psychology issue. An example: delivery and lawn-care trucks w/trailers use out street to avoid the speedbumps on Morningside and Longview. Thank you for your attention.
