Please update your police officers on policies regarding insurance, warranted searched, and speed limit postings. I was pulled over yesterday by a police officer who said I was tailgating yet speeding, and when I explained I was tailgating because I had to slam on my brakes since he pulled out into the lane. I believed he was making an emergency maneuver, however was just trying to get in traffic. He pulled me over, said he would cite me if I did not have my insurance, which I did, but it is also a law that I have 24 hours to provide that proof. It is also a law that if he has no reason to search my trunk, he cannot. However, he asked and I, politely, said yes. However, this was not necessary as there was no probable cause to search. Luckily my father is IMPD and was in direct contact with his supervisor. But I would like to make the city aware of this incident, as I felt very uncomfortable. Especially when said officer kept saying things were expired, then changing his mind when I said they were not. He was very unprofessional, and as someone who has been around law enforcement for 21 years, exhibited very concerning behavior. Thank you.

I live directly next to the Landscaping Services Building roughly by 10th Street & Jefferson. The level of noise they make at 4:30-5:30AM is unacceptable. I implore the city to please contact Landscaping Services (affiliated with IU-Bloomington) to push their hours back to 7-8AM. It is a total disturbance to my neighbors and me. Banging metal, trucks beeping as they back up, loud engines, car lights that shine into our homes & other community disturbances. I expect a response from the city on this major quality of life issue. Thank you so much for your time. I enjoy living here in Bloomington in every other regard besides this matter. Thank you!

I witnessed a man getting sucker punched in front of blue bird nightclub shortly before 12;30am on June 22. Officer 67 arrived within a few minutes and placed handcuffs on the man who was sucker punched. I immediately told officer 67 that I saw the perpetrator walk down the alley, but officer 67 told me to get back and would not listen to me... while I was watching the perpetrator walk down the alley. Other witnesses were also telling officer 67 the perpetrator was getting away. Officer 67 acted emotionally in arresting the victim. It was wrong. I could identify the perpetrator. My spouse and I were dining on the patio at the Little Tibet near 4th and Dunn this evening. The noise and music levels from Kilroy’s around the corner was extremely loud to the point it really ruined the ambiance of an otherwise peaceful evening. Does Kilroys have noise permits to operate with the sound system on their patio? What happened to the quiet nights initiative from a couples years ago?

I filed a uReport nearly a year ago (in March 2019). The uReport was passd back and forth between city employees, but I have received no information that the uReport was actually read or responded to. The uReport was case #167846. Speeding is still a problem on Maxwell Lane - it's a four-tenths of a mile straightaway with a blind hill in the center.

Thursday 03/05/2020: My wife was involved in a traffic accident where a lady ran a red light and then merged left into my wife. My wife called BPD to report the accident and officer C. Brummett (ID # 1578) responded. Officer Brummett exchanged the "Drivers Exchange Information" form to both parties. 03/06/2020: My wife called BPD after the 24 hour period following an accident where the law states that ANY VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHERE THE DAMAGES EXCEED $1,000, THE RESPONDING OFFICER SHALL FILE A REPORT. She was able to contact officer Brummett and he said he didn't file a report as there were "only minor damages". My wife explained that the damages to our car alone was $5,000. Officer Brummett stated that he wasn't a body man and couldn't estimate the damages. Officer Brummett then said he would have a report done and filed by Monday (03/09/2020). 03/09/2020: At the time of this writing it is 03/09/2020 @ 3:26PM. A report still hasn't been filed and according to BPD administration officer is out today. They also state that officer Brummett will be in training tomorrow, 03/10/2020, and not available. The person we've been in contact with also refused to let us speak with the Chief of Police about this situation and said to call back tomorrow. This is entirely unacceptable. We need a police report filed to get our BRAND NEW CAR repaired and officer Brummett has been irresponsible in his duties. The law states that the officer SHALL have a report filed within 24 hours. It's now been 4 days and it hasn't been done yet. Report # B20-09784
