Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

17th St & Kinser Pike, Bloomington, IN 47404, USA

Case Date:
9/7/2022

Y'all must be union workers because i'm sure you're getting paid but I don't see much work getting done. 2 years. 2 YEARS the sidewalk here has been cracked and broken up in large chunks. T-W-O Y-E-A-R-S. And I know you mfs know about it too. Which means obviously y'all don't give one shit about any neighborhood that isn't next to IU or on the eastside, aka the places you let shoot their load all over you because money and classism. You obviously don't give one shit about disabled or elderly as this has been a hazard for over--remember? 2 YEARS. Not like someone can just walk across the street to use the other sidewalk across Kinser because there isn't one derp. So maybe try a bit harder. Just a bit. Maybe act like you actually give a shit about this city. Or at least do your damn job

Sidewalk & Curb Complaints

501 S Walnut ST

Case Date:
6/28/2024

Person has been living on the curb for roughly 10 days with several carts of belongings and a dog that jumps out barking at people as they walk by on the sidewalk. While the person generally stays on the part of the curb that is not the sidewalk, this can't be permitted to take place in a safe and civil city.

Sidewalk Requests

Case Date:
5/13/2015

On April 6th I reported eight sidewalk problems along the north side of Heather Dr. between Grasstree Ct. and Laurel Ct. I included photos and also mentioned these could be a safety hazard, especially for many of our older residents. The following day I received a call back which was much appreciated. Although some work has been done (see last paragraph), nothing at all was done to the most uneven slab. It is directly across from 700 Heather on the NORTH side of the street near a mailbox cluster. See 701_E_Heather_Dr.jpg. There is a full 2" difference in height. I am reporting this particular one again, because a resident tripped on it April 27th and received bruises and abrasions to her face and hands. Her name is Barbara Wachholz, and she lives at 3708 Grasstree Ct. A neighbor was concerned enough to photograph her face. Fortunately, no bones were broken. I notice some of these raised/uneven slabs were recently beveled or chipped off which could probably help. But I don't believe this was done thoroughly enough to help very much. For example the other end of the slab adjacent to the one I mentioned above wasn't chipped off all the way across. Please advise. Thank you, Marvin Allen, 3907 S. Laurel Ct. I am the homeowner at 3817 S Woods Edge Bend. Can the city repair my sidewalk? My insurance company is saying this is necessary, and I don't know how to get this done.

Street Lights

1416 W 8th ST

Case Date:
12/25/2015

The crest of the hill on 8th street has inadequate lighting. People on the sidewalk are invisible for security purposes, and cannot see obstacles to walk safely. A neighbor hit my car door because he could not see it. People leave their porch lights on all night, so we have some visibility.

Street Lights

1685-1799 South High Street

Case Date:

The sidewalk from High to Arden passes through a small wooded area that is not lit. It is intimidating to walk through. There is an electric transfer box nearby between two properties. Hopefully a light can be installed.

Street Lights

200-210 East 12th Street

Case Date:
10/17/2017

There needs to be 1 or 2 streetlights put it on east 12th street between Grant street and North Walnut. It is especially dark in between Lincoln and Washington street and at night you cannot see the sidewalk at all. Most people living on E12th street are students, many of whom have night classes ending as late as 9 or 10pm. My roommates and I specifically have classes ending at 8:30 and 9 when the streets are too dark to see anything. With the current atmosphere in Bloomington, many residents of 12th street feel unsafe walking home from class, work, or to their neighbors. Installing A street lamp or two would greatly improve the safety and comfort of people living on E 12th street. The attached photo shows just how dark the sidewalk is with out a flash light at night. No one should have to feel afraid of walking down their own street at 8pm and the addition of street lamps on E12th street can help fix this.

Street Lights

629 N Fairview ST

Case Date:
1/19/2022

In response to uReport case #178550, if the property owner has had to repeatedly paint over graffiti, then perhaps the built environment could be examined to see if any improvements could be made that would benefit the property owner as well as residents. A walk down that street at night reveals pitch black darkness. There is a light at the T intersection of Fairview and 11th, but the illumination does not reach around the bend in Fairview. The property has a light in their lot which actually causes the sidewalk on Fairview to be even darker in contrast. It has never felt safe as a pedestrian or cyclist but that can be remedied by personal use of lights. However, having the street illuminated could help to make it less hospitable for delinquent behavior as well as the wonderful bonus of increased safety for non-motorist travelers. Lastly, vehicles regularly speed down the decline on 11th, fail to stop at the stop sign, and continue around the bend on Fairview. I would think that increased illumination would be helpful to those motorists who are already driving recklessly. Thank you.
