Blocked Street
2923 S Rogers ST
- Case Date:
- 11/29/2022
I forgot to report this at 10pm last night when I observed it. I have not gone by this morning to see if it is still an issue. But, as of yesterday, S. Rogers Street was a mess from the construction site. It was covered in gravel and mud. It was very dangerous in a car and would likely cause bicycle and motorcycle accidents. They apparently do not have a tire washout station setup because they dragged the mess into the road and made it everyone else's problem.
Drainage or Runoff
317 W 14th ST
- Case Date:
- 7/31/2022
There are multiple areas of stormwater runoff and pooling occurring on my property due to the development and ensuing increased runoff produced by the adjacent property at 910 N Madison St.
My observations of increased water on my property come from regrading of the property to be higher than mine, a capped drain, building on the N-S alleyway that used to serve as a way for runoff to flow to the street, and redirection of water onto my properties via gutters, tubing, and installed drainage flows that direct onto my property on the north and northeast side of the 910 N Madison property. This has caused flooding in my basement, yard, and driveway that was not there prior to the redevelopment of this property and the vacation of the alley.
I have more photos of where the stormwater drainage from this property is deliberately directed onto my properties, but am not able to upload them here due to the limit of one photo.
All of lots surrounding this home are now on the market for development at an increased density. My concern is for my current situation and for the increased drainage issues that will come from further densification without mitigation to protect me and my surrounding neighbors.
I would appreciate someone to come out to my property to see the current situation and drains installed by the City that are not functioning to protect my properties at 317 W 14th and 920 N Madison from damage by stormwater runoff.

1 year after my yard was flooded with mud, this retention hole behind my house is still unfinished and full of weeds! Recently in July they dug up pipes they had installed, and they are still lying there.... who is responsible for finally finishing this mess and mowing the weeds down? I dread another heavy rain and my yard filling with mud again... Please have the people who are responsible finish construction of this area and maintain it properly! Thanks , Dave Reid 812-363-3049

City Construction Projects

The apartment construction by Varsity properties on East 19th Street has caused an excessive level of dust on the road. Whenever a vehicle drives by, the dust becomes airborne. In addition, the dust also falls on to nearby vehicles, causing a significant amount of scratches and inconvenience.
No effort has been made to clean up the street. It is especially disgusting to walk on when it rains.

Hi there!
My name is Melanie Nelson, I work in environmental services for Daly City. Our department is putting together a workshop on water conservation in the home as part of our "Going Green" series. We see it as a great way to protect the environment while also educating the community and saving them money, it's a win-win-win situation!
Your page, http://bloomington.in.gov/waterwise , has been awesome as a guide for the event planning committee, and we can't thank you enough for posting it!
The reason I'm emailing you is because a local middle school class has been helping us with the endeavor as a volunteer project and they (very proudly, I might add) found a great article here: http://www.improvenet.com/a/water-conservation-at-home . The article is a basic overview for children on water conservation in the home and its benefits, with links to several great sources for both children and adults. I think the kids would be absolutely stoked if you were to post a link to the article on your page, they love to help out wherever they can, and seeing the link on your page would show them that they've made a difference and their actions have had an impact (however small).
Please let me know if this is a possibility and I look forward to hearing back from you soon!
Thanks again!
