New Modular Home that was recently dropped off at 939 N Fairview Street is routing all off their Gutter run off from all 4 down spouts to run down onto neighbors property at 941 N Fairview St?
The swale to the west side of our home overfilled as storm water was backed up at the street drains which then flooded the window well to our basement on June 18-19. Although our yard is regularly flooded during heavy storms, the west swale was designed and dug by the City to carry excess water to the street. We believe this swale needs to be dug deeper and lined with rock to stop erosion from occurring to prevent future flooding of our basement. Please send an engineer to evaluate. This problem has been reported several times.
Hello - I am the homeowner at 102 South Waldron St. here in Bloomington. This past Friday my basement flooded an excessive amount (3 feet) due to water buildup on Waldron Street. This has happened 4 times over the past 6 years I have lived here because the water has nowhere to go due to the flat area at the bottom of Waldron Street. I am requesting a storm drain be installed on Waldron Street just North of my house and in front of 100 South Waldron Street. My neighbors basement has also been severely flooded over the years due to water buildup from the street - the homeowners name is Simon Ladd. We both have sub pumps in our basements (I actually have 2) and it still doesn’t solve the flooding issue. I have spoken to Mr. Ladd and we both agree the best solution is for the city to install a storm drain. My number is 812-369-0765. The storm drain couldn't handle all the water from the bad storm over the weekend, and the runoff created a hole behind the drain. Don't know if there's any damage, but if anything, the grate needs a thorough cleaning. Thank you!
Please considering resurfacing South Palmer between Hillside and Grimes. The street is in horrible condition, and as a homeowner and tax payer, I would really appreciate a better-maintained street.
I am having an issue with my front ditch flooding every time it rains. This picture was taken today (June 2nd, 2021) during the light rain we experienced throughout the day. When we receive heavy down pours or rain for multiple days the runoff storm water puts my mailbox post underwater. Which, over time, rots the post (I have recently had it replaced). When the front yard does flood the water travels across the road in a 30-40 foot wide swath, several inches deep. When dry, the culverts (under my driveway and the one going under the road) can be observed as 95-100% silted in and obstructed. I have noticed over the past couple of years where the city has had the utilities marked and the culvert marked going under the road. Other culverts in the Park RIdge neighborhood have been replaced or repaired except for the one in front of my residence. I would appreciate an update on when this issue will be addressed.
I have a movie and many pictures to show that the new draining system on Covenanter Dr, between high street and Brooks Dr is overflowing and causing damage to properties.
My neighbor John East told me that city surveyors were planning a project to renovate this storm drain system that flows from his yard in an open stream - through my yard which was tiled over at some point (I believe the city did this but cannot confirm). This system flows then into Cascades Park. There are a significant number of sunken areas along the path of this conduit in my yard - which has concerned me regarding the integrity of this pathway. I have had MUCH trouble with hydrostatic pressure along my basement foundation, and have not found a cause for this to date. Additionally, when the rain is hard enough, this system will back up into John's yard and the water will breach Skyline Dr. and flood my yard as well. I am looking for information about any plan for a project so that I can respond in time by moving perennials and manage expectations regarding disruption at the house from possible excavation and construction. This stormwater conduit that drains the Cascades neighborhood is compromised - tall weeds grow every season in several areas where the cement has crumbled away over the years. I have reported this before and requested a repair, however the response was to patch a few of the larger missing areas with asphalt. This is not a sufficient conduit to manage the volume of stormwater that flows from uphill. Especially since this is a very uneven surface, stormwater is not adequately managed at this point.
