Email from complainant: Dear Inspector(s), I am the property owner of 135 N. Clark St., 47408, Joel J. Barker (son of Mary Jo and Jim Barker). My tenant has brought to my attention that the residents of 134 N Roosevelt St., 47408 are placing their junk/garbage (broken lawn furniture, trash bags, etc.) in the back of their property out of sight from the street. I would like to give you, the inspector permission to come onto our property at 135 N. Clark St., 47408 and take care of this violation. While the violation continues you, the inspector have my permission to come onto the property until the trash is removed. Please do give me notice when a visitation is scheduled so I may inform my tenant. Thank you for your time and service in resolving this matter. Sincerely, Joel J. Barker 135 N. Property is on SE corner of N Bryan and 7th St. The traffic calming bump out on the 7th street side is overgrown with Johnson grass and has been for months. A look at google street view shows it was overgrown in July of last year, showing this is a chronic issue at this location.
Hi, I think this house is being used as a storage area for a construction business; it's listed as the address for N V Roofing and Restoration. The yard has contained trash, construction materials, and sometimes furniture for six to eight months. (I complained about trash at the curb a few months ago, and that trash was removed, but more appeared almost immediately. Right now there's trash at the curb, construction materials in the yard, and two mattresses outside.) I don't think anyone is actually living there, although people may stay the night from time to time. I'm concerned about the trash, but also about whether there is a zoning violation. This area appears to be zoned residential single-family, and it looks to me like this type of business use is not allowed. Thanks for any help you can provide. If I need to contact someone else about the apparent zoning violation, please let me know.
Trash at curb.
Kathleen Peters called today (1/18) to complain about her neighbor's trash at 118 N. Hillside. She said she has waited 3 weeks (4 trash pick ups, including today) to report this. Apparently their trash bins have now fallen over and trash is blowing around in the wind and getting soggy from the rain.
Grass is about a foot high in the yard and bush is over the sidewalk.
This trash has been here for over a week. I live in 108 N Union and it's not mine. I think it belongs to the house behind us on Bryan. Not sure why they think the city will pick up trash that's not curbside...
