Water tastes and smells horribly of algae
Water tastes and smells horribly of algae
I live in Brandywine Ct in Bloomington and have had a disgusting smell in my water for the last 4-5 days. It smells like dirt and it tastes like dirt. From what I have read, this is because of algae blooms in Lake Monroe. Except all information says it happens every summer and fall. It's February and freezing cold. Why is this happening now? Any ide how long this will last? I just paid a fortune for dispensers and Brita Elite filters one week before this started. The Elite filters do nothing to remove the smell or taste. Just the thought of why the lake smells so bad is nauseating. This day and age, there has to be something available to eliminate the disgusting smell and taste. We can't drink bottled water because of pfas and pfos. So what are we left with? Expensive water bottled in glass. Who can afford that on an ongoing basis? Honestly, you cannot expect people to drink that disgusting water.
Cold water from tap faucet coming out brown/yellow. Glass on left from tap, glass on right from fridge (filtered).
Our tap water is coming out of our sink with considerably less pressure than normal, and is an opaque white color. The water clears up in a few minutes and there is no lasting sediment, but it's happening with cold and hot water which is not normal for our house. We've recently had a snow plow get stuck on the fire hydrant outside of our home - not sure if that would be connected at all to this problem as the hydrant doesn't appear damaged. Thanks for looking into it!
Cold Tap water is brown, ran for few minutes with no change.
Whole house water pressure is low/weak. Current water bill doesn't show an increase in water usage. Wondering if there is an issue elsewhere impacting pressure?
I just read the article where you're using a coconut powder treatment in the water. My wife is highly allergic to coconut. What are we supposed to do!? Whose stupid idea was this? Is there a way for us to filter this out? I mean we've ended up in the hospital before because she consumed coconut oil in food that we didn't know was in there. This is serious for us. Please stop this process. Help!
I just read an article stating that you are putting coconut powder in the water in Bloomington. I am SUPER allergic to coconut and I know others that are as well. I'd love NOT to have allergy attack just drinking water! I strongly think this should be changed! Please don't affect my health and others.
I visit friends in Bloomington and I'm allergic to coconut! Why would you introduce an allergen to the water. Now I have to pack in all the water I'm going to use during a visit. Terrible decision.
Is there any chance people with coconut allergies will be affected with the coconut powder added to the water treatment?
