The GigabiteNow crews have been drilling round holes about 9 inches in diameter in many streets in town. I've especially noticed it on W 8th and W 6th Streets because I travel those streets daily on my bicycle, but they are on other streets, too. They have not been filling these holes properly and the holes are becoming a hazard for bicycles. They should be require to go back and properly fill those holes so that they leave the surface smooth with no craters or bumps.
Hey Neil, Thanks a lot! It's heartwarming that you're looking into it, aging equipment not withstanding. Re: Kirkwood/Walnut...if you're in front of the Book Corner, or across from it in front of the Courthouse trying to get to the Book Corner corner, and it's you've just this second gotten the green pedestrian sign, you will not make it across during the green hand (or whatever the symbol is). Never. I'm really healthy and I can't get across before the pedestrian sign changes and opens up the car traffic. Turning cars are not inclined to watch pedestrians, they're distracted by oncoming traffic and timing their own turns. Thus, squashed pedestrian. Kind of you to take an interest, Neil. Happy New Year! Lisa Horwitz (IT wouldn't let me simply reply to your email. Did you know that?)
Can the city put some pressure on INDOT to open some lanes on 3rd and 2nd bridges? We have gridlock daily. Or maybe station cops to direct traffic? Or both? It's really out of hand and I rarely see anyone doing any work!
New mandatory stop at B line trail crossing on West Country Club drive. Bad, inefficient installation will cause traffic backups all the way to S. Walnut, already a problem. The warning lights should be installed facing the trail not the road – lots of cars, particularly at rush hour, every day, all hours, but very very few trail users. CC drive is a main cross-city route - so why stop all the cars every time when no trail users are there? Bad logic.
Please place deer crossing signs on North Range Road. A screenshot of suggested locations on either end of the median is attached. While walking my dog last night, I saw a car driving around the bend way too fast, hit a deer, and just drove off. The deer has a badly broken back leg, but unfortunately hobbled back into the woods by the IU cross country course before I could get to him/her. Especially with the construction going on with the new hospital, animals are being displaced and showing up around our apartment. Please place signs warning drivers of deer that may be crossing. I am willing to donate money for this if needed so contact me. Thank you.
Construction is ridiculous. You have every street tore up and the traffic lights are not letting traffic get through properly! Why not do one street at a time. Enough is enough! And stop bringing more people in!
The Bloomington Bagel Company at 113 N. Dunn Street recently installed giant umbrellas on their outdoor patio tables. As a result, the tables and chairs are extending into the pedestrian right of way on the sidewalk. The umbrellas are also not tall enough to safely walk under. It appears to be presenting several hazards and blocking safe access for pedestrians and individuals who use wheelchairs.
Pedestrian bridge on E Second near Anita has overgrowing branches. Need a trim.
