Is there any way we can have the intersection of 5th & Rogers St. traffic light automated? What will it take to use some demand sensors / cameras at this intersection? The signals churn through every 'mode' -- protected turn arrows when there is nobody in those turn lanes. This intersection has been a frustration for.... a long time. please help!? Ken Horrocks
The signal at Rogers and Kirkwood has been flawed for some time now. The left arrow activates in all directions even when there is no one there to trip it. It slows down traffic significantly at a busy intersection.
This location would benefit from pedestrian crossing signs. Pedestrians are often stuck in the intersection while the light changes for vehicular traffic because they do not have enough notice of the traffic signal change.
My wife and I live at 515 W 3rd st, in Prospect Hill. I would like to request a simple upgrade to the functionality of the pedestrian signals at the S. Rogers st. and W. 3rd st. traffic interchange. I will reference the City of Chicago as a best practice. In Chicago, in almost every intersection with a traffic light, all pedestrian signals utilize the following sequence: a) When the light turns green, the white walk icon light actuates. b) When the pedestrian signal reaches the 30 second level (sometimes more or less than 30 seconds, depending on the overall duration of the light), the white walk signal changes to a red blinking don't walk icon and countdown timer, which counts down the remaining walk time. c) When the timer reaches 0, the blinking light changes to a full red don't walk icon. This coincides with the traffic light turning yellow. d) This functionality is in place 24/7/365. This functionality provides crucially important situational information to both drivers and pedestrians on the status of the traffic light. This is especially important as we somewhat frequently witness incidents of road rage at this intersection, as an unintended consequence of the no right turn on red signage that has been placed at this intersection. I am generally supportive of the no right turn on red signs, but the signage has definitely created this new issue. Because this functionality already exists at this intersection (in some pedestrian signals, at some times of the day), there should not be any material cost to make this change. It will require a technician to modify the code in the microprocessor that controls the lights. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss further. Thank you. Turn arrows at the 17th and Fee intersection are not operational for any direction. Has been a problem for multiple years.
Dear Government, I have been living here for about 13 years, and in this time it has become clear to me that there is a problem at the intersection between Rusgan Drive and Ramble Road West. You see this intersection has been my bus stop for years, and whether it's the dark of morning when I leave or daylight when I get back people speed right by as if there were no speed limit. This is only made worse by the fact that the intersection is half blind because it lies at the bottom of a small hill. So for the well being of myself and the children of the neighborhood I am requesting that this intersection be changed to a three way stop. I believe this would force the people of the neighborhood to drive at a more reasonable speed and therefore make my street much safer. I believe my neighbor across the street, the father of a small child, previously wrote the city requesting the same thing. I myself am just a teenager. So you know that once the problem has reached the point where a teenager takes time where they could have been doing nothing to write the city about traffic regulation, it's probably not just nothing. And considering others have written about this in the past, I frankly find it foolish to wait until someone actually gets hurt to take action. Thank you for your time and consideration, P.S. Due to there only being a stop sign on Belle Ave. (East/west), drivers consistently speed down Hickory well over the posted limit. In addition, drivers on Belle have a history of not stopping at the stop sign therefore we commonly see near misses or hear screeching tires. While it may annoy some, I feel that a 4-way stop would be much safer here for drivers as well as for any pedestrians.
There is a pole nut no crosswalk sign to warn speeding cars. This dog-leg is a heavily used walkway for the employees of Solution Tree that has to walk across the street to get to parking lot. I have almost been hit many times as well as my coworkers. Cars do not slow down and it is a BLIND bend. Hello I am the office manager at Summit Urology located on McIntire Dr off of Tapp Rd and we have a few concerns 1 being that we have a Surgery Center down stairs and we are going to soon have only 1 way in or out of here. This is a concern due to if we ever need an ambulance to come to the surgery center in the event of an emergency and the road be blocked for some reason it could mean life or death for someone. Yesterday the road was blocked off for 38 min no one could get in or out of the medical park. I find this to not be a good result and need to speak to someone about our concerns.
