Parks & Playgrounds

A vehicle drove through park of Park Ridge Park. The ground was apparently quite wet so the area of the park where the vehicle drove is quite damaged. The damaged location is the part of the park immediately adjacent to the Polly Grimshaw Trail and it needs some attention prior to the season starting in earnest to prevent further damage in that area from erosion on the now exposed ground.
Also, some one dug out the the ground and mulch underneath one of the park swings significantly enough that there is quite a pit underneath the western swing and that area needs repair.
As a somewhat different note which is more just routine maintenance, a plank on the wooden fence next to the trail head has come loose and fallen (on the northern part of the fence). Also, the leaves from the oak trees have not been removed or otherwise been blown away over winter. Previously this situation has lead to a lack of grass leading to significant erosion and damage to the park terrain. I am guessing the leaves should probably be removed soon, ideally in the fall. Last season, the parks team worked hard to mitigate this issue and it would be a pity to see hard work washed so to speak.
On that note, I would like to thank the parks maintenance team for the quick responses to previous requests and concerns that have been made about this park and trail. Thanks a lot! I was really impressed with how easy the whole team was to work with as well as how responsive everyone was to the needs of both the park and the neighborhood. Thanks again!

I'm wondering if there's been any thoughts about developing a mountain biking loop around lake griffy? I'm sure that we could get some volunteer and local business support for building and maintaining something and maybe work with the university on a mtb'ing club who could also be trail stewards. Additionally, maybe some trail connectivity through that area could enable realistic bike commuting to Marlin Elementary. I don't think anyone wants to take their child on a bike down Griffy dam hill or old 37. I would be interested in meeting with someone and getting back into public service if a champion of the idea was needed. Thanks!
Traffic Related Complaints

Constituents in Fritz Terrace and the neighborhood north of Kroger have expressed concern that traffic is moving too fast (and seems to be getting worse) along Kinzer and Skyline Drive. Not sure if there's anything that can be done from the City's perspective, but I wanted to pass this along. Thank you!

So, just like that, the temporary fix, gravel in the ditch was just that, temporary. After a couple rains, the gravel has all washed down in front of our storm drain and across Kinser Pike. The deep crevice along Acuff Road either needs to be filled in with black top or concrete, or a true rain gutter needs to be installed. Gravel just compounds the problem, and the crevice is still there.

There are a bunch of potholes in this area. Greenbriar Lane has a small grassy median between High Street and Locust. At the west end of this median on the north side of Greenbriar where it meets Locust there is rough pavement and a pothole. Continuing northwest there is a small traffic island between Locust and Wilton with potholes around it and a bunch of gravel on the sidewalk. The potholes need to be filled and the gravel cleaned up.

I found a syringe just a foot or two off the B-Line Trail in a clump of spearmint growing behind the orange building at 7th and Madison. Ironically, the syringe was orange too. I left it there, because I am not trained in handling syringes, but it should probably get picked up and disposed of properly.
Thanks,
Yael

Traffic Suggestions
North Oolitic Drive

I have spoken with Public Works and Planning & Transportation previously but i would like to put it out there again since there has been a lot more progress on Union at Crescent. I would like to put in a request that N.Oolitic Dr from the rear exit of Union at Crescent to W.11th St be rebuilt with widening and curb/sidewalk combos to full ROW width. In addition, i still request that the intersection at N.Oolitic and W.11th be turned into a 3-way stop (signs, not lights.) I truly appreciate serious consideration of these matters and I will work with the city in any way I can, within reason, with my adjacent property. Thank you.
