City Performance

401 N Morton ST

Case Date:
9/1/2022

The City is not the top place to work. Perhaps your organization once was but not any longer. People are unhappy. They talk constantly about it and then they leave. Worst work culture I have ever experienced. Even if you keep putting out there how great of an employee you are, we know. It stinks of MAGA nonsense to just keep repeating something that is blatantly false.

Traffic Signals

Case Date:
9/1/2022

signal at smith and walnut (just north of seminary square) used to operate in some sort of recall mode, but this week has not been. as a cyclist i dont seem to have any way to activate the signal. i'm typically eastbound here and stopping in the middle of the bike rectangle there doesnt seem to have any effect. i have been running the red, which is unideal. thanks!

Water Quality

Case Date:

The water smells and taste horrible. Honestly smells like you are at the lake. It actually made me gag this morning and several hours after showering in it I keep getting whiff's of lake. Really hoping my co workers can't smell lake water on me.

Water Quality

Our water tastes absolutely horrible and nothing makes it better. Brita filters are brand new, we added fruit as you suggested, and it’s becoming an issue for my family. We drink tap water daily and it’s our main source of hydration. The cost of buying water is atrocious but we have 2 boys who drink water all day. How is the city going to help us with this issue?

Water Utility Problems

1035 W 6th ST

Case Date:
9/1/2022

There is water seeping out of the ground and onto the pavement on the east side of Oak Street, the alley that runs between 5th & 6th Streets. On the other side of Oak is a fire hydrant. I suspect the pipe is leaking.

Water Quality

4189 W Chisholm TRL

Case Date:

The water is so terrible tasting and smelling that my family cannot drink it! We were forced to buy water. How long will this last? The foul smell and taste happens nearly every year. With CBU being the only source of potable water in Bloomington, there is no alternative! We are having to spend our limited resources to get drinkable water. We should at least get a decrease in water charges if CBU is unable to correct the issue permanently.

Our tap water has smelled and tasted like a pond for over a week. We’ve asked friends and it’s hit or miss who is having water problems but it’s all over the city.

Biking & Walking

800 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN 47405, USA

Case Date:
9/1/2022

Be advised that bicyclist and scooterists are subjected to extremely dangerous riding conditions while using the 3rd street bike lane (traveling West between Eagleson Ave & Indiana Ave). Both the signage and the enforcement for this area are inadequate resulting in vehicles generally disregarding the bicycle right-of-way in the bike lane. Bicyclists must either come to a sudden and complete stop to avoid colliding with vehicles parked in the bike lane, or risk traveling into busy vehicle lane traffic to swerve around parked vehicles. I experience this problem happening almost every day while riding in this bike lane, and the individuals who are parking in the bike lane are generally resistant when I ask them to move out of the bike lane. A long term strategy that should be implemented as soon as possible would be to construct a raised curb and/or visibility bars along the shared edge of the bike lane/vehicular lane. This can easily be designed to accommodate the busses and university vehicles that need to pull to the bus stops or onto the sidewalk by including strategic gaps. This should ideally be done before a vehicle and bicycle immanently collide resulting in injury or worse. I have tried reaching out to various city and university departments, so I trust that you will consider this ticket or ensure that it is taken seriously and responded to by the relevant department.
