Hello, Bloomington has a safety problem with its homeless population. Our daughter is a senior at IU, she lives off campus, near downtown. She calls me as she walks places because she is afraid of the homeless and their behavior. This afternoon I received a call to tell me two homeless men were walking through their neighborhood, under the influence, and checking doors of homes as they went through the area. The City needs to address this issue to insure its residents are safe.

This empty lot is on North Summit two lots South of 11th. This collection of garbage occurred from a camp during the last several months. The camp has since vacated and has relocated. The same result is sure to occur again unfortunately at a new location. This was reported at the beginning and was told nothing could be done and the neighborhood should work it out. This issue is destroying our city. Regardless of this being a private or city lot or in what area of the city this is taking place someone in city government needs to take ownership and provide the leadership and use of city resources to remedy this issue. Citizens and neighborhood associations can only do so much. Landlords and property owners need to be held accountable. Action needs to be taken. The problem is only getting worse. This case needs to remain active until this situation is resolved. A simple drive by is no solution. It’s obvious that if we cannot take care of the issues on Kirkwood (the focal point of our community) current department leaders are not qualified to continue in their positions. This can be remedied without being harsh or heavy handed. It takes leadership, commitment, communication and perseverance.

For some reason our recycling is not being picked up. It is not the auto truck given we live in Windermere woods and the truck with staff need to come through the ally. We have had it out 3 weeks (pickup is every week, we thought!) but for whatever reason it is not being emptied. My smoke detector has went off for weeks. After notifying a staff office member she was very dismissive and rude about it. And it's still not fixed and worries me. Clogged sink. Light bulbs in bathroom and microwave over light. Bathroom has mold. Black mold. Smoke detector hanging from my son's room by wire and they never sent maint. Drugs and needles (what I believe must have been drugs) many times in the hallways staircases and elevator. Used condom wrappers in hallways and staircases.

The company that came out to install new fiber hit my water line yesterday during the day. When I came home from work I noticed all the trucks from City of Bloomington working on it. I talk to them and they said they will need to shut off my water for a few hours while it got fixed, and then to run my tub for about 5 minutes and it should all be fine. I left until this morning and went to run my tub and get my water back to normal. I have water coming out of my taps, but there is no pressure and I have no information about what happened or if it has been fixed. Please get back to me ASAP as I can not bath or wash anything in my house. I would also very much like to know the company that is in charge of digging for this new fiber as they have left a mess all over my neighborhood. Thank you very much, Nick

What is going on with catlytic convertors being stolen in this town? Two were just stolen in my neighborhood. Seems like this shouldn't be a problem in a small college town. Have you all investigated the places in town where these could be being sold on a black market?
