Walking by this building, there was a small black and white dog tethered in the yard. Its fur was extremely matted and falling out in places. They have another dog in a fenced-in area that is too far from the sidewalk for me to see its condition.

Street & Traffic Signs

700 N Forrest Ave

Case Date:
9/11/2024

On 3 recent occasions, I have seen cars going south on N Forrest Ave blow through the intersection at E Cottage Grove Ave (at the SE corner of Luddy Hall) without even slowing down for the stop sign. The first 2 times I saw it, I just chalked it up to new student drivers but on the 3 time I took a closer look at the intersection and think I see the problem. There is a tree in front of the stop sign that totally obscures the view of the stop sign until you are basically right at the intersection. See that attached picture that I took standing in the middle of the traffic lane that shows the exact view the driver sees. By the time they see the stop sign it is way too late to stop. I'm not sure what the best fix is but trimming the tree seems like a simple option. There is a huge amount of foot traffic in that area during the school year and I would hate to see someone hurt at this intersection. Thanks!
