Under Bloomington Municipal Code Chapter 17.16, a building is considered unsafe if it is: Structurally Impaired: Posing a danger to persons or neighboring property. Unsanitary: Lacking adequate ventilation, light, or sanitation to protect health. Observing this property over the last 18 months, there has been no change in this property, except that the condition is getting worse. Locals state the home has been in derelict conditions for many years. Damaged roof. A tarp does not constitute a roof. There is no ventilation in the house or working exhausts. Windows do not open/close. No heating or cooling in the structure. Dangerous electrical resulting in the occasional use of a small light. No plumbing in the structure. Resident carries buckets of water from nearby and can be seen washing his hair and body outside of his front porch. No functional bathroom inside the home. Occupant cannot flush waste properly. The entire place appears to be a fire hazard. Evidence of structural fire damage that may also impact the electrical and plumbing concerns. Overgrowth vegetation and weeds. Inoperable vehicles in front and behind the unsafe structure. The severe neglect of this property is diminishing the quality of life for the community and hindering its overall desirability. The dilapidated condition of the property presents a substantial public eyesore and poses a detriment to the neighborhood character. Please take action to keep Bloomington beautiful and avoid causing a serious decline in neighborhood standards for the entire City of Bloomington.

I am the current president of the Hyde Park Village HOA. We are updating our documents and are in need of current map of water and sewage plans for our neighborhood in order to define responsibility for damage to such. Please provide map of water and sewer lines for addresses on Mcartney Lane which is all of Hyde Park Village. Please also advise to which point the city is responsible for repairs. Thank you.

My address is 1005 s Washington. For the last several months when my neighbor has his water on my water main hums (vibrates) until he turns it off. This is the only time it occurs, when he in running water. It doesn’t happen when I run water. It vibrates the floor in my bathroom and is extremely annoying. Yesterday, I went outside and opened the cover on his meter and the meter, inlet, and outlet were all vibrating. I asked him about it and he said it’s extremely loud in his house and at the front of the house is sound like a well pump is running. Could you check out his meter and make sure the water is on all the way or if his meter is bad?

Last year I had sent in a complaint about storm water running down Olive Street into the joint driveway of 1502 & 1504 S. Olive St. and 1144 E Hillside Dr. An asphalt curb was installed in the Fall of 2025, but they did not install to the top of the hill at Olive St. The water from rain can still run into the joint driveways of 1502 & 1504. Can this be fixed to where the curb will start at the top of Olive and run all the way down to Hillside or to where the other curb starts.

During the Winter there was a new water meter installed in the front yard. The workers made the ground very rough and did not smooth it out. There needs to be grass seed planted from where they dug up the yard. If someone could please take care of regrading the dirt and planting grass seed, it would be much appreciate.

I was walking in this neighborhood Friday evening around 7:30 - and looking at this map - seems to be 2015 E Marilyn Drive - and smelled smoke - the backyard is not visible on Marilyn but while I continued my walk on S Covenanter Drive I had a view of the open fire - I noticed that this appeared to be a recreational fire - but was not in an approved device - such as a fire pit - and it did not appear that there was a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.

The culvert behind this address is blocked with brush and trash from the recent heavy rains. The culvert needs to be cleaned out in order for the water to flow properly and not back up into the surrounding yards.

the gutter above my front door has been hanging off the building for weeks and my landlord has yet to fix it. it has been dropping nails and causes water to flood my entrance. the issue continues to worsen each day. it’s a large gutter and i’m afraid it could fall and hurt myself or my neighbors.
