Meter S42 in the parking lot between 4th and 5th streets is not functioning. I put money in the meter, and the green light did not come on. At that time, I saw a note in the window that said the meter is not functioning. I left my car there for the next hour anyway because I paid to park. The plate on my silver Kia is RWR409.
I received a parking ticket when I visited the city stating I was parked in a "resident parking only" zone. I had to search the area to find the sign indicating this restriction, as it was totally obscured by tree branches/leaves, and I was not parked directly under the sign. Not sure how out of town visitors are supposed to follow the parking restrictions when they are not posted in observable manner. I believe this ticket should be forgiven, as no one who parked there would have seen the sign. Parking meter on north side of 7th between Walnut and College — has coin slot and says coins accepted, but digital readout says card only. I didn’t see the digital readout until I had already put money in the coin slot. Had to move my car to another parking place. I know this has also happened to other people on other blocks. What’s the deal? So inconvenient.
Almost all parking meters around the courthouse square have been spray painted to prevent viewing of the screen and sprayed with a hard foam on the key and payment portions of the meter.
It's bad enough that we have to fight for parking at Morton Street garage, but it becomes intolerable when black ford F150's take up 2 spaces (314, 313). Is there some ordinance against this? Can they be ticketed, at least? License plate G04292.
A large percentage of parking meters around the Main Branch of Monroe County Public Library are not working. They either will not accept a debit or credit card (i.e. cannot read the cards) or have a black screen so that a user is unable to read in the steps needed in order to pay for parking. The meters in question are on Lincoln between Kirkwood and 6th, 6th between Lincoln and Grant, and Grant between 6th and Kirkwood. I have not tried parking on Kirkwood so I don't know if there's any issue with those meters. Every time I attempt to park in this area, I must try at least three times before I am able to find a working meter.
The meter on College Ave in front of Goods for Cooks is working (green light) but the screen is not displaying anything so it’s impossible to know how much time you have.
This morning, a bus was dropping off children at the Buskirk-Chumley for a student matinee. The bus swung out too hard and ended up hitting and denting the parking meter on Kirkwood closest to the corner of Kirkwood and Washington on the block that has the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.
