Water cover busted
new, pretty deep pothole at the edge of W 7th at Oak Street. It's pretty much impossible to miss this hole because of the traffic calming "roundabout" at that intersection.
Smoking continues to occur around north CH entrance, trash enclosure, bench/covered rest area, etc. This does not meet the no smoking regulations per city policy or state law. When raining smoking occurs under awnings near entrances and between county and city. Being subjected to this as a resident walking through or a worker walking through is not great. Please address this.
The water in Griffy Creek behind this property is incredibly murky today - opaque and greenish grey and a couple new items of garbage have appeared on the far bank. The level is high and the water is flowing swiftly, and it seems less cloudy coming in under the road from the dog park. There were a dozen ducks and a heron frolicking in the clearer, cold water less than a month ago.
uReport 207299 was closed by Rebecca Davis 1/08/26, stating that the heap of "End Construction" signs in the front yard of 1311 W 17th has been removed. The signs are still there! They have not been removed as of today 1/09/2026. FYI I have contacted the company Highway Safety Service in Lafayette twice (see photo 765-474-1000) to report. They promised twice to contact their "Ops Team" to remove the sign on the ground, but no one at HSS team has responded. We are super sick of the broken sign in our yard AND the other signs on W 17th St. There hasn't been construction since the fall. During the holidays, some people decorated their yards but we had a heap of junk with a danger light flashing in our yard. Please expedite removal of the broken sign and other construction junk from W. 17th St until there is some construction to warn drivers about. Sharon Roualet, Crescent Bend Neighborhood Chair
Recent remodel of the rental property - the side yard lights were changed from baffled can lights to security lights which now illuminate our backyard. Would you please advise the property owner or management to have them aim the lights down or reinstall the baffled lights?
See case #201777. Did owner ever reply to letter from HAND? It has been almost a year, and nothing has been done. Wall along Lincoln is still in need of attention. Experience with property owner (Parker rentals) has been they will not do anything unless there is a fine involved.

I am a resident assistant in Eigenmann Hall right across the street from this convenience store. In the past there (just two months ago) there weren’t any issues with their lights. However, right before students winter break the convenience store installed these new bright white lights. These light shine into my room, making it hard to sleep at night, in addition, while driving and walking it makes it difficult and distracting to drive and cross streets on the roads when the white lights are shining in your eyes. Similar to white high-beams on an interstate highway shining in your eyes in the dark, that is what these remind me of. These lights make it very difficult to sleep in my room, operate along these roads, and walk as I did before (especially now that it gets darker in the day sooner). I’ve had complaints from residents on lower floors of Eigenmann Hall about these lights as they begin returning to the building.
