The alley behind the Von Lee- our place of business and client entry way is in terrible shape- it seems bad enough that the park is overflowing with the homeless situation/loitering and then the alley is like walking on the moon. There is a man who always sits on the planter on this corner with a dog so that no one else can use them, I've never gone by there and not seen him. He's selling jewelry there, which is not allowed. Its unfair too the other homeless people that he alone is allowed to sell things on the street and block traffic and use of the bench. If this is the wrong subheading please forward to right person!

I am manager at TRACKS. We run a IU apparel and record store at 415 E. Kirkwood Ave. Every day between 1 and 6 homeless people gather and sit on the limestone planter outside our store. It is having a negative impact on our business and I would like to know if there is any recourse to get them to move on. What are the rules on who can sit on the planter for how long?

Resident (Janeene 812-325-0369) called stating that her recycling had been perfectly sorted but homeless people had been digging through it overnight and had messed up the five bins that the recycle crew did not pick up (crew did pick up two bins). I told her that we could likely do a one time courtesy pick up once I had spoken with the crew about the recycling. When the crew (946) came back in from the route I was informed that the recycling had been mixed and that there had been shoes, pants, and other trash mixed in with it as well. I called the resident back at that time and advised that we would not be able to pick up her recycling as a courtesy due to the state that the recycling had been in.

Thank you Mayor Kruzan! I know you are a 'good guy' as you have helped me with a problem before. Please do not allow a low-barrier homeless shelter. And do keep them out of the garages, etc. I truly believe they will return to where they came from without so many amenities in Bloomington.
