Yard Waste
935 W Kirkwood AVE
- Case Date:
- 4/4/2017
Resident called in upset that we didn't take one of her yard waste bags. She says that we every 10 times don't take something. She had bags of yard waste in plastic bags which our crew dumped the contents and left the bags. I explained that we can't put plastic bags in the truck. She says someone is stalking her and when we don't take her stuff it gets thrown all over her yard. She says she is disabled and can't bring it back in when we don't take it. She is going to file a "formal complaint" about it and wants us to make provisions.

There is a metal plate covering a street repair. It keeps getting pushed so it sounds like a gunshot every time a car drives over it. It has been about two months and no one has come to fix it.

We recently moved to Bloomington and chose specifically to live within walking distance to our daughter's school, we're within a mile. Unfortunately, there's no viable route to her school b/c there are no sidewalks adjacent to University Elementary on 10th street. This is a significant issue for the surrounding community. We're new so I don't have all the numbers but there are at least 10 students at University in our neighborhood alone and based it's a safe assumption that the neighboring neighborhoods have a large number of students who are not currently provided with a safe alternative. For a city with a great walkable/bikable reputation I would expect this to be a high priority for our city. This is also a common route for cyclists (recreational and competitive) and seems like it would have already been addressed. Please advise.

Hi,
I am working on a story for my journalism class at IU about the streetlights and the lampposts on campus and in the city. I was wondering if I could sit down and talk to someone about this. It would be a great help!
Thanks,
