10/11/2018 Extraordinarily loud concert going on over here on the eastside, apparently permitted by mayor's office? If so, unconscionable. This is a residential neighborhood, young children, people up early for work. I'm at least a half mile from the site and can easily hear it in my house. Will be contacting councilperson about this as well.
Dear Mayor Hamilton and the city of Bloomington, I am contacting you and your office regarding the problem with the deer in our neighborhood. Once again, the deer are a problem for us and they are outright dangerous. I am not sure what the city is planning on doing with the problem, but I almost feel like I want to hire a sniper (and I am an animal lover) to get them off of our property or now purchase a BB gun. I am not a violent person, but I am at my wits end regarding this issue. Will the city only do something once a deer kills a child? I have heard of stories of dogs being killed by deer as well as homes being trashed by deer who have somehow gotten into somebody's home. The latest is that my wife got a broken ankle because of a deer and it required a trip to the ER at Bloomington hospital along with missed work for both of us. Luckily we have health insurance, but for those who don't...it is a very expensive endeavor that could have been avoided if the city would do something to cull these animals. Lately we have seen a herd of 8 deer roaming around Somax. I would like your opinion on how you plan to fix this problem because I do see this as a problem in our city and especially our neighborhood. Also, I heard that the city has a 2 million dollar surplus this year and wondered if that meant we would finally get the sidewalk and repair of the dangerous culvert that has been promised to the former owners of our house as well as to us. Our taxes go up every year (Judy Sharp just assessed another increas of $50,000 to our home value which raised our taxes again quite drastically). We can't seem to ever get a break from her with her assessments every year and it is quite frustrating. Every year we pay more and more taxes and get absolutely nothing for it. Hello, I'm a part-time employee (SPEA fellow) at the City, in the Dept. of Planning & Transportation, and I have a few concerns about the part-time parking spots at Showers. First, is the part-time spots are incredibly far away from the main entrance to City Hall, adjacent to the Showers Red lot (in fact, as far away as you can possibly get while still staying in the Showers parking lot). Now, this isn't a problem for an able-bodied person like myself, but I had a friend who worked as an intern for the Controller's office this summer who has knee problems, making this walk excruciating for him. So bad was it that he usually parked at a meter, for an entire four hour shift, which meant that he essentially had to pay $4 to come to work everyday. My other issue with the part-time parking spaces is the incredible lack of them: there are only 5. Very rarely are less than 5 part-time workers working at one time, so it's really a crap shoot when I come to work (MWF) as to whether I can actually find a space. Many times I've also had to park at a meter. And today (11/29) the PT employee parking signs that designate which spaces are available to PT employees were removed, so some employees at the business end of Showers were parked in what should be PT spots, so there were even less spaces available than usual. I understand wanting to encourage walking/biking and public transit, but this isn't feasible for everyone, because rent is astronomical near Showers, especially to PT workers who don't get paid very much. I live pretty far out, so walking/biking is pretty much impossible, and public transit is highly inconvenient. I just wish the City was a little more inclusive of its part-time workers (especially those with disabilities), and the fact that only 5 parking spaces are available to us (a 5 minute walk from the entrance to City Hall, no doubt) is really disappointing and, in fact, a little insulting. I hope, in the renovation of parking happening in the FT section of the lot, that the City will consider adding some more PT spaces.
The streetlight at the intersection of Woodburn Ave and 15th street is out and has been for several weeks. I have reported this outage several weeks ago since I live at 1020 N Woodburn which is 1/2 block from this light. My house is part of the Maple Heights Neighborhood Association. This area of Woodburn is quite dark. Is there any way that Duke can prioritze the repair of this light? I thought I would ask before I discuss the problem with the HT Hotline, the Mayor's office and Duke. I understand if larger outages would take a larger project, but this is a single light that has up till night be very reliable. Thank you for your efforts to help.
I am hoping to find a way to get a 24 hour animal clinic opened in Bloomington or at least a clinic or hospital that is open when the other vets are closed. The closest 24 hour pet hospital is in Indy and very expensive. I don't think emergency care for animals should have to cost so much. Some of us can't get emergency treatment because we don't have transportation and/or money to pay. My poor puppy just had to be put to sleep at the indyvet hospital and I feel if I would have been able to afford the $400 fee they wanted up front then she may have lived and I am certain she would have lived if there was a place in Bloomington that would have been able to see her. We need someplace for our babies to be taken care of outside of normal vet office hours.
This is in reference to uReport Case #161251. I was told to pick up my refund at the Morton St garage office. I've been there 3 or 4 times so far, and no one is ever in the office. Can my refund be mailed to me, or is there a better place to get it. Thanks.
City pathway is popular sight for criminal activity such as: drug deals and use (used needles are common on stairs of city path), destruction of public and private property, fighting, littering, public urination and feces, and this year we've had two occurrences of people on the path discharging guns (~1pm last night was the most recent occurrence- see police report). The stairs on the path are unsafe and create a safe haven for criminal activity because the police can not pursue the suspects down the path or stairs. Instead the police have to drive around the block to try and head of the criminals and thus allows them to evade police. My community and the police officers are requesting that these dilapidated stairs and path be removed. They are public menace to our community and Bloomington society as a whole. Please help us protect our community by removing this criminal gateway into our neighborhood. My fellow community members and I will continue to post updates on our problems, interactions with criminal (e.g. death threats) and reporting of criminal activities associated with this path (including photos).
I work at Smallwood Plaza. Recently the traffic pattern on 8th street was changed from a one way to a two way. The city left a sign at the exit of our garage indicating that there had been a traffic change. (thank you). However we noticed after this weekend that someone had driven over the sign you provided so we brought it into the building. We have it here at the leasing office if you'd like to retrieve during our regular business hours. I just don't want us to be held responsible for damaging city property or not reporting/returning damaged property.

Tenants are concerned that there is an increase in crime, vandalism, and break-in regarding cars and offices. A request for: 1. Increased patrolling , and 2. awareness of the issues
I need to know who to contact about a construction permit displaying in the window. The owner listed on the sign is fraudulent. The locks have been changed. My sister Christine Wilhelm and son Charles Swinehart are the Owner. My brother has been in hospital and nursing care since July 1st 2016. He has been released but now he has no place to reside. Sheriff office responded to trespassing call on Saturday morning. They only said that it is a civil matter. I do not have permit number from the sign but it is dated 12/7/16.
