This specific incident involved a Lime scooter, but I urge you to please ban ALL motorized scooters from Bloomington. My family and I were just coming back from the airport yesterday when we saw a young woman collide head-first into a car in cross-traffic (without a helmet because of course, none of these scooters come with helmets) because her brake stopped working. This was no one's fault but the manufacturers'. But given how much they make, I'm doubtful much will come out of it if she were to take legal action. There have been so many accidents (some fatal, as you know) in so many cities, including ours, due to these companies dumping scooter after scooter onto seemingly every busy sidewalk, and it is completely within your control to ban them here--after all, Indianapolis did. I would like to know your reasons for allowing them to continue to be used in Bloomington when we know how dangerous they have and will continue to be, as long as they are on the streets.. Just how many more accidents must we see and hear about until something concrete is done?

Follow-up Case #179422. "Good afternoon, sorry for the delay in response, I was unsure of who to send this type of case. Forwarding to Parking Services thank you" Two comments: 1) after several years and lots of scooter complaints (media, uReport, etc.) it's strange that it wasn't routine where to refer it 2) maybe that explains why not a single ticket has been for improperly parked scooters. Anyhow, I suggest that routine monitoring of sidewalks (downtown at least) be assigned to Parking Enforcement

Good Morning, My name is Lauren and I am the Facilities Manager at Middle Way House. Due to the nature of our work I am requesting that Lime not stage their scooters on our property. We do what we can to limit the public from loitering around our buildings. I have filled out a form on Lime’s website but wanted to follow up with you all as well. There is a Lime scooter blocking the driveway to the 6th Street Garage of the Monroe County Public Library. The garage and driveway are both used daily by our facilities and mobile outreach staff. I drive the Outreach Van and the scooter is parked in such a way that it blocks my ability to pull in and reverse the van in order to to load and unload it with materials for community members.
