6 Pekin Ducks

6 Pekin Ducks are a Courtesy Listing and are not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for these pets. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pets' guardian. I have 6 Pekin ducks that I am looking for a home for (due to moving). They are currently separated into two groups (for the safety of the females). In one group there are 2 males and 2 females and the other group is just 2 males. I will adopt them out as two separate groups or, all together, if an adopter was able and willing to keep them separated as I do. I am looking for adopter(s) who will love them as pets, and not food. They do need a safe shelter to stay protected from predators and weather. Ideally, their new home would have a pond with an aerator that keeps it from freezing in the winter. (We don’t, have a pond, but I provide them with a couple of small pools/tubs of water that get replenished daily - I have a water hose dedicated to the duck pen.) It would also be best if there were some kind of building or shed they could be locked into at night or days of extreme cold. Ability to run an extension cord to their pen to plug in heated water bucket (provided) during freezing temperatures so they always have drinking water available. They are generally skittish with people, but once they get to know and trust you they get less so. Most of them will eat food out of my hand now. They are not good with dogs, for obvious reasons. And probably not great with kids due to their natural skittishness. I would be able to transport the ducks to their new home and help the adopter get them set up. They would come all of their various accessories and supplies. I would need to do a home visit to verify that they will be going to a good home.
