Staff advised constituent to contact Risk Management regarding the process of filing a claim.
Phone Call: I received a call from Ms. Toon because her rental home had received 5 to 6 inches of sewage in the basement during the storm this weekend. She said she thought this had been fixed by the city when we did our project on Wimbleton and she thinks the city should be responsible for all the expenses she is incurring. She wanted to sell the house but she won't be able to because of this issue.

Ms. Toon believes the city is responsible for the flooding in the basement of her rental home and wants to file a claim.
I spoke with Ms. Toon and explained that we replaced the sewer main on Wimbleton which helped the situation tremendously but there is nothing we can do about the amount of rain we received. I explained we replace sewer mains to help reduce infiltration but it is not possible to completely eliminate all infiltration because of numerous factors (upstream infrastructure, heavy rains, private laterals, etc). I told her I was sorry for what she was experiencing but didn't feel there was anything else we could do. I said if she believes the city is responsible for this issue, she should contact the City Risk Dept. and file a claim. She said she had called them but everyone was out due to the holidays.
