Utilities Construction:

Other: The fiber optic guys are here AGAIN! The are digging and drilling through our property. They asked if they could take down some of our fence to do their work. They admit they are back because they did not do a good job BEFORE. Our issue - we are concerned of that these contractors will damage our property sewer and/or water lines and we will be the ones stuck to deal with the aftermath of repairs and expense of repairs. Issue 2 - We have no idea on how to communicate with these guys!! What are our RiGHTS! Can you guys help us out? We feel helpless!

Hello I am Alex Gray, one of the Field Specialists at the City who oversees the right-of-way permitting across city limits. AEG, the fiber crews, received permits with us and as part of those permits they are required to repair any damage they cause while working in the right-of-way. In the event they damage your sewer or water lines, you will have to document the event and reach out to them for repairs, which includes the expenses associated with those repairs. Based on your uReport it seems they had not left a door hanger with you as they were required to. This was supposed to provide you with contact information so you could reach them should you need to about repairs/expenses. The number is 1-800-315-3509 so that you have the information they failed to provide. If that communication does not work or they fail to repair areas that were damaged, you can reach out to the Engineering department and I or one of my coworkers will investigate and press the issue with our mechanisms through our permits. The Engineering department number is 812-349-3913.
