Traffic Suggestions:

Other: Drivers who turn from Walnut up East Hillside and speeding is a problem. Hillside is a hill, and many drivers think this is a speedway. I am requesting a stoplight, yield sign, or better yet, a series of speed bumps, much like were installed on Washington Street. Pickup trucks seems to be the main issue, though muscle cars like to think of this as their raceway. The sidewalk is already directly next to the street, and we have to deal with large trucks withing 12-15 inches of our walking path. This can't be avoided. Speeding can be negated some. Thank you for you attention to this issue

Hi Alan, Thanks for reaching out. Hillside could be eligible for the Resident Led Traffic Calming Program if you are interested to apply for the 2027 cycle. One street is selected each year for a traffic calming project such as speed bumps (examples like Washington ST can be found on the TCGP Webpage https://bloomington.in.gov/tcgp) Your comments are helpful in the planning process. Staff is considering Hillside for further study as is a priority corridor in the Transportation Plan. You may submit additional comments to the Planning Dept via uReport or to me at [email protected]. All the best, David Brantez Alternative Transportation Coordinator

Transferring this request to you as their complaint is about speeding on Hillside. Traffic calming would be more appropriate than a traffic signal or stop signs as they are used to clarify right of way, not calm traffic.
